Book Description
The only detailed and annotated work on the subject, superseding the author's early book A Sufi Matriarch (1986). The substance and significance of Babajan's life are recounted and assessed here. Her Sufi orientation is evident, though she was independent of the Sufi orders. The nature of this independence is investigated in a chapter on the distinctive and radical qalandar tradition. The author also addresses the topic of Sufi women over the centuries, a largely uncharted subject, which has evocative historical

Book Description
A biography using the early version of Dr. Ghani as a framework. The author has often said that the brevity of this work was obligatory in view of the scarcity of reliable data. An Afghan Pathan by blood, Hazrat Babajan (d. 1931) was an unorthodox Sufi who lived under a tree at Poona, India, in the days of the British Raj. Some have viewed her as a second Rabia. Her case history is a significant addition to the meagre data on female Sufis. She gained an inter-religious following, reflecting her tolerant attitude. She was reputed to be over a century old at her death. This monograph is annotated, with reference to the work of scholars like Schimmel, and has an introduction defending aspects of traditional mystical psychology.

Book Description
I was acquainted with the name of Meher Baba when as a kid I heard my grandfather Dr. Hira Lall Chopra often mention his name as a spiritual awakener of the twentieth century who lived in Ahmednagar. It was recently that, in the course of my study on the spiritual world and on spiritualism, I came across the name of Meher Baba. His name not only evoked my childhood memories but also spurred me on to undertake deeper study to gain insight into the life and achievements of Meher Baba. In the course of this pursuit I also went to Avatar Meher Baba Centre, New Delhi. The Centre was very helpful in providing information and reading material on the life and teachings of Meher Baba. I must admit that, on studying the available material on the life and achievements of Meher Baba, I was wonderstruck as to how an ordinary person, leading an ordinary life, by a twist of fate, not only realized spirituality but also turned into an ardent spiritual awakener for the rest of mankind in this predominantly materialistic world. Man is essentially a spiritual being and, in my opinion, requires material gains only for peaceful existence in order to achieve his objective of spirituality, and come closer to his Creator – God. But in pursuit of material gains, men, at large, tend to distance themselves from spirituality and thus from God. For those who earnestly seek spirituality, I feel the teachings of Meher Baba can help them to achieve their objective. It is for this reason that I have penned down my findings and thoughts in the form of this book on the life and teachings of Avatar Meher Baba which may help all those who seek spirituality and God - consciousness. With the perilous circumstances prevailing in Afghanistan, Rosha is made to surrender her nubile self as a child-bride to someone as old as her father. She is forcefully exiled to Saudi Arabia to serve her wealthy master and become a part of his populous harem. Such a drastic turn could have meant to be a dead-end to Rosha's dreams and aspirations. But she chooses to struggle and her pursuit for answers takes her through continents, on a journey, on which she finds answers to most of her questions. She had left her nation as a slave and after being applauded as a hero elsewhere, she still longs to return to her land with respect and dignity that she and many like her deserve.

Book Description
This collection of Sufi poetry and songs is “an inspiring source to deepen our knowledge of Sufism by the examples and teachings of . . . beautiful and wise Sufi women” (Sufism) The luminous presence of women who follow the Sufi Way—the mystical path of Islam—is brought to life here through their sacred songs and poetry, their dreams and visions, and stories of their efforts as they witness the Truth in many realms. These writings reflect the honor and respect for the feminine in the Sufi worldview, and they are shared in the spirit of inspiration and hope for the flourishing contributions of women to the spiritual development of humanity. Spanning the centuries, from the time of the Prophet Muhammad to the present day, the selections are by or about an array of Sufi traditions in different parts of the world, from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to Europe and America—from beloved members of the Prophet’s family to the mystic Rabi’a al-Adawiyya to the modern scholar Annemarie Schimmel. Biographical anecdotes and personal memoirs provide a glimpse into the experience of great saints and contemporary practitioners alike, while providing an introduction to the principles and practices of Sufism.
