Book Description
She gets people to confess their crimes for a living. He knows she's hiding a terrible secret. It's time for the truth to come out... Poe Webb, host of a popular true crime podcast, invites people to anonymously confess crimes they've committed to her audience. She can't guarantee the police won't come after her "guests," but her show grants simultaneous anonymity and instant fame—a potent combination that's proven difficult to resist. After an episode recording, Poe usually erases both criminal and crime from her mind. But when a strange and oddly familiar man appears on her show, Poe is forced to take a second look. Not only because he claims to be her mother's murderer from years ago, but because Poe knows something no one else does. Her mother's murderer is dead. Poe killed him. From the USA Today bestselling author of The Dead Girl in 2A and The New Neighbor comes a chilling new thriller that forces the question: are murderers always the bad guys?

Book Description
Although a few of the stories are inspired by real-life characters and events, this work is mostly fiction and no real names have been used. The sole nonfiction story is called “Carefree Roses for her Funeral.” The story speaks of my brief stay on Harlem’s Sugar Hill where, following a downturn in my personal fortunes I’d gone to live with a brother. The brief stay turned into a period of six years. While there, I was privileged to witness the gradual gentrification of the area and the loss of what some would then and now term a piece of the area’s heart and soul. It is a story told from my bench view of a fir tree surrounded by carefree roses. Donnelly Square Park is one of the area’s smallest parks. One block west of the larger Jackie Robinson Park, it is located at the crossroads of 150th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue. It is known by the locals as “the little park” and “the dirty park.” I have dedicated the poem “Ode to a Tree” to my father and to my sister who was a published poet. All of the other stories are just for fun. I had a great time writing them and these are eight stories from what has now become a two-volume work. So enjoy this first publication and look forward to the next. Read, laugh, and think. Maurice P. Fortune

Book Description
This book is part of my story and part of my imagination for you to read, to ponder and to make-believe. This book may be more than you can unravel or understand, it may have more twist and turns than you dare to see. This book is a journey through a jungle full of predators that will challenge your thoughts about what you think of me. This book has a rhythm, a pulse, and a life of its own, and a beautiful soul that will forever live and breathe. What I put down in black ink will always last forever. I’m not talking about my arm; I’m talking about pen and paper. The judges can see the meaning and interpret what they want. I’m not talking about the courts; I’m talking about story and plot. You may uncover some fiction, but it will be worth your while. You may discover some true connections; I hope this book makes you smile.
