A Conversation About the Good Old Days

Book Description
The Other Side of the Story Growing up, I didnt have the best relationship with my Father. Its ironic to mehow writing this book came about. When I was a child, I couldnt see, in my little eyes the love my father had for his children. I could only see a Father that wanted to keep us from life. Listening to his side of the story helps me to realize that it wasnt life that he was keeping us from but the world and worldly things. My Father wasnt much of a talker back then, as a matter of fact, there was very little talk, especially when it came to who he was and what he had done in life. Writing his story gave me a lot of information and answers to questions I had. The whywhatwherewhenand how was answered and explained. One of the things I admired most of his story was howif he could do it againhe would do some of the things he done differently. He saw/sees his mistakes. We all have those moments where we wished we could turn back the hands of time. Most of all, what I like about his story iswhere he gave his life to the Lord. I see old men on the street daily. I thinkthat could have been my Father. How I am grateful that my Father accepted Jesus and his Lord and Savior. I now understand in my big eyes my Father might not have been this or that but he was the main thingA FATHER. Im proud of my Father and Mother and Im blessed to have had BOTH of them in my life. Good Old Days
Author: Bobby Jay Newman
Publisher: Page Publishing Inc
ISBN: 1662468202
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 361
Book Description
In discussing the good old days, I have attempted to describe in some detail nearly every aspect as to how things were as I was growing up during those days in a close-knit farming community. Some readers, however, may be more interested in my personal experiences of that time, the more humorous of which having been included. Growing up first without electricity and then without a father inspired my overactive imagination to go wild in creating a wide variety of ways to entertain myself, many of which were unwise and would never have been tolerated had my father lived.

Author: Steven L. Hilty
Publisher: University of Missouri Press
ISBN: 0826273572
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 369
Book Description
With very few people engaged in agriculture today, it is no surprise that most Americans have little understanding of the challenges that modern farmers face. This book provides readers a glimpse into life on a modern Missouri farm where a variety of grains, grass seed, corn, and cattle are produced. All of the conversations, events, and descriptions are drawn from the author’s experience working alongside and observing this father and son family farm operation during the course of a year. Farming today is technologically complex and requires a broad set of skills that range from soil conservation, animal husbandry, and mechanics to knowledge of financial markets and computer technology. The focus on skills, in addition to the size of the financial risks, and the number of unexpected challenges along the way provides readers with a new perspective and appreciation for modern farm life.
