Founded in 1975, the Gay Rights National Lobby (GRNL) advocated for gay and lesbian rights in the United States at a federal level. Operating out of offices in Washington D.C., the GRNL paid close attention to legislative developments, promoting the work of both gay rights activists and supportive members of Congress (including Henry Waxman and Barney Frank). Its activities and regular analyses of voting records can be surveyed in a variety of records including three folders of correspondence, copies of its Legislative Bulletins and Reports, and two folders of press releases. The GRNL merged with an associated lobbying organization, the Human Rights Fund (now the Human Rights Campaign) in 1985.
