Book Description
This book is a comprehensive guide to the evidence, theories, and practical issues associated with recovery from stuttering in early childhood and into adolescence. It examines evidence that stuttering is associated with a range of biological factors -- such as genetics -- and psychological factors -- such as anxiety -- and it critically assesses theoretical accounts that attempt to integrate these findings. Written so that it can be used flexibly to meet the demands of courses about stuttering, the book may be used as a text at the undergraduate or graduate level in psychology or speech-language science.

No Miracle Cures breaks down stuttering into many small problems'and shows you how to solve each one.

Book Description
This book goes beyond instilling hope; its mission is to provide a concrete and highly effective pathway to overcome the challenges of stuttering. As you embark on this journey, know that I, too, have traveled this path-a journey that took me from the depths of severe stuttering to the liberating realm of fluent speech. You've likely picked up this book because previous attempts to conquer stuttering have left you seeking answers. Traditional avenues such as speech therapy, stuttering support websites, and conventional resources, unfortunately, have a dismal track record in assisting individuals in their quest to stop stuttering. Here's the good news: a paradigm shift for stutterers is finally underway. A paradigm shift represents a radical change in thinking from an accepted point of view to a new one, driven by an advancement of knowledge that has a profound, large-scale impact. Those who cling to the existing paradigm may resist contradictory theories or evidence that challenge their established views or practices. However, it's essential to be open to new possibilities and discoveries. The brain's capacity for creation and evolution knows no bounds. We wield more influence over the shaping of our brains than we once imagined. We are not mere spectators or victims of our brain's neural network. We are active participants, steering the course of our brain's evolution. This extraordinary capacity of the brain to change is known as neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the phenomenon through which the structure of our brains undergoes constant transformation in response to the multitude of experiences and thoughts, whether positive or negative, that we encounter. It extends to every habit we cultivate, including the challenges faced by those who stutter. The revelation of neuroplasticity heralds a monumental breakthrough in our understanding of the human brain. If your goal is to stop stuttering altogether, it's time to explore the world of neuroplasticity. It's time to move past mainstream thinking about stuttering and embrace the power of brain neuroplasticity to overcome this challenge. The paradigm shift is here, and it's time to stop stuttering and start living a life free from the constraints of speech dysfluency. Within the pages of this self-improvement book, we will explore the StutterMind Neuroscience Protocol, an easy-to-follow, practical, and effective self-help method designed rewire the brain and eliminate stuttering. This self-help method, based on the principles of brain neuroplasticity, has not only been a transformative force in my life but also serves as a guiding light for you to achieve the same success. Included in the book are exclusive links (QR Codes) to supplementary videos explaining the principals of brain neuroplasticity and coaching on the use of practical Tools to avoid any stutter. Together, we will explore the tools, brain training exercises, and support resources that will empower you to break free from the chains of stuttering and realize the full potential of your life with confident and fluent communication. Your path to Stop Stuttering starts here! Michael Ferris Neuroplastician and Author

Book Description
Malcolm Fraser knew from personal experience what the person who stutters is up against. His introduction to stuttering corrective procedures first came at the age of fifteen under the direction of Frederick Martin, M.D., who at that time was Superintendent of Speech Correction for the New York City schools. A few years later, he worked with J. Stanley Smith, L.L.D., a stutterer and philanthropist, who, for altruistic reasons, founded the Kingsley Clubs in Philadelphia and New York that were named after the English author, Charles Kingsley, who also stuttered. The Kingsley Clubs were small groups of adult stutterers who met one night a week to try out treatment ideas then in effect. In fact, they were actually practicing group therapy as they talked about their experiences and exchanged ideas. This exchange gave each of the members a better understanding of the problem. The founder often led the discussions at both clubs. In 1928 Malcolm Fraser joined his older brother Carlyle who founded the NAPA-Genuine Parts Company that year in Atlanta, Georgia. He became an important leader in the company and was particularly outstanding in training others for leadership roles. In 1947, with a successful career under way, he founded the Stuttering Foundation of America. In subsequent years, he added generously to the endowment so that at the present time, endowment income covers over fifty percent of the operating budget. In 1984, Malcolm Fraser received the fourth annual National Council on Communicative Disorders' Distinguished Service Award. The NCCD, a council of 32 national organizations, recognized the Foundation's efforts in "adding to stutterers', parents', clinicians', and the public's awareness and ability to deal constructively with stuttering."
