Book Description
In this innovative study, Leo Cabranes-Grant analyzes four intercultural events in the Viceroyalty of New Spain that took place between 1566 and 1690. Rather than relying on racial labels to describe alterations of identity, Cabranes-Grant focuses on experimentation, rehearsal, and the interaction between bodies and objects. His analysis shows how scenarios are invested with affective qualities, which in turn enable cultural and semiotic change. Central to his argument is Bruno Latour’s Actor-Network Theory, which figures society as a constantly evolving web of relationships among objects, people, and spaces. In examining these scenarios, Cabranes-Grant attempts to discern the reasons why the conditions of an intensified moment within this ceaseless flow take on a particular value and inspire their re-creation. Cabranes-Grant offers a fresh perspective on Latour’s theory and reorients debates concerning history and historiography in the field of performance studies.

Book Description
Scenarios are widely used to specify the behavior of software due to their informality and accessibility. However, their informality makes them difficult to analyze and manage. We address these difficulties with two complementary approaches, one syntactic and one semantic, that add a small amount of structure to scenarios to allow automated analyses and support. The syntactic approach represents a scenario as a set of attribute-value pairs, some of which may also be viewed as events, each of which is an actor-action pair, that are arranged in a sequence. This representation supports the use of episodes (shared subsequences of events) to show dependency relationships between scenarios and to help maintain those relationships as the scenarios evolve. The representation also supports automated measures of similarity between scenarios, to find duplicates or near-duplicates, searching in a collection of scenarios, and assess requirements coverage and completeness of the collection. The representation can be analyzed for consistency of various attributes within individual scenarios. The semantic approach integrates the scenarios that describe a system into a network that expresses which scenarios can follow each other. The network expresses the context expected by the events of each scenario and the temporal relationships between the scenarios. This information is either implicit or incomplete for an ordinary collection of scenarios. Construction of a scenario network provides process guidance for assessing and improving completeness and consistency of the scenario collection. A scenario network represents equivalence relationships between scenarios, and these relationships can be used to organize and classify the scenarios and to maintain the temporal relationships between scenarios as the scenarios evolve. A scenario network can be analyzed to evaluate completeness of the scenario collection and several kinds of consistency between scenarios in the collection. Together.

Book Description
How can you make multivendor services work smoothly on today’s complex networks? This practical book shows you how to deploy a large portfolio of multivendor Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) services on networks, down to the configuration level. You’ll learn where Juniper Network's Junos, Cisco's IOS XR, and OpenContrail, interoperate and where they don’t. Two network and cloud professionals from Juniper describe how MPLS technologies and applications have rapidly evolved through services and architectures such as Ethernet VPNs, Network Function Virtualization, Seamless MPLS, Egress Protection, External Path Computation, and more. This book contains no vendor bias or corporate messages, just solid information on how to get a multivendor network to function optimally. Topics include: Introduction to MPLS and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) The four MPLS Builders (LDP, RSVP-TE, IGP SPRING, and BGP) Layer 3 unicast and multicast MPLS services, Layer 2 VPN, VPLS, and Ethernet VPN Inter-domain MPLS Services Underlay and overlay architectures: data centers, NVO, and NFV Centralized Traffic Engineering and TE bandwidth reservations Scaling MPLS transport and services Transit fast restoration based on the IGP and RSVP-TE FIB optimization and egress service for fast restoration

Book Description
The Special Issue on Advances in Modeling and Management of Urban Water Networks (UWNs) explores four important topics of research in the context of UWNs: asset management, modeling of demand and hydraulics, energy recovery, and pipe burst identification and leakage reduction. In the first topic, the multi-objective optimization of interventions on the network is presented to find trade-off solutions between costs and efficiency. In the second topic, methodologies are presented to simulate and predict demand and to simulate network behavior in emergency scenarios. In the third topic, a methodology is presented for the multi-objective optimization of pump-as-turbine (PAT) installation sites in transmission mains. In the fourth topic, methodologies for pipe burst identification and leakage reduction are presented. As for the urban drainage systems (UDSs), the two explored topics are asset management, with a system upgrade to reduce flooding, and modeling of flow and water quality, with analyses on the transition from surface to pressurized flow, impact of water use reduction on the operation of UDSs, and sediment transport in pressurized pipes. The Special Issue also includes one paper dealing with the hydraulic modeling of an urban river with a complex cross-section.

Book Description
The growing popularity of advanced multimedia-rich applications along with the increasing affordability of high-end smart mobile devices has led to a massive growth in mobile data traffic that puts significant pressure on the underlying network technology. However, no single network technology will be equipped to deal with this explosion of mobile data traffic. While wireless technologies had a spectacular evolution over the past years, the present trend is to adopt a global heterogeneous network of shared standards that enables the provisioning of quality of service and quality of experience to the end-user. To this end, enabling technologies like machine learning, Internet of Things and digital twins are seen as promising solutions for next generation networks that will enable an intelligent adaptive interconnected environment with support for prediction and decision making so that the heterogeneous applications and users' requirements can be highly satisfied. The aim of this textbook is to provide the readers with a comprehensive technical foundation of the mobile communication systems and wireless network design, and operations and applications of various radio access technologies. Additionally, it also introduces the reader to the latest advancements in technologies in terms of Internet of Things ecosystems, machine learning and digital twins for IoT-enabled intelligent environments. Furthermore, this textbook also includes practical use-case scenarios using Altair WinProp Software as well as Python, TensorFlow and Jupyter as support for practice-based laboratory sessions.
