Contexte : Le vaccin contre le zona, recommandé chez les personnes âgées de plus de 65 ans dans la prévention du zona et des névralgies post zostériennes, semble peu connu du grand public et peu prescrit par les médecins généralistes. L'objectif de cette étude était d'identifier les freins de la vaccination contre le zona rencontrés par les médecins généralistes de la Loire et de mettre en évidence les moyens qui permettraient d'améliorer cette couverture vaccinale. Méthode : Etude qualitative réalisée à partir d'entretiens individuels semi-directifs auprès de 10 médecins généralistes installés en cabinet libéral. Résultats : Les médecins généralistes ne sont pas favorables à la vaccination contre le zona car ils ne sont pas convaincus de l'intérêt d'un vaccin contre une maladie qu'ils estiment bénigne, généralement facile à prendre en charge et avec une faible prévalence. Le manque de recul et le scepticisme des médecins vis-à-vis du remboursement freine leur prescription, d'autant plus que la polémique sur les vaccins et les scandales médiatisés ne favorisent pas la prescription d'un nouveau vaccin. Conclusion : Pour améliorer cette couverture vaccinale, il sera nécessaire d'avoir plus de recul et que les médecins généralistes soient convaincus de l'intérêt du vaccin notamment par l'intervention des autorités de santé dans l'information et la valorisation de cette vaccination.
