Book Description
This book is intended not so much to supply new information concerning the external activities of the English-speaking Caribbean countries as to fill a large gap in the growing literature on the subject by integrating the known information into an analytical framework or model as a first step toward theory building. As such, the book complements the descriptive works on the Caribbean that are already available or in production. The book is also intended to reach the broader audience of those interested in small-state foreign policy in general, that is, those persons to whom the formulation of a model is useful in facilitating comparisons with other countries of similar size. Note that the aim is not to build a "grand theory" of small-state or Caribbean foreign policy, but rather to modify existing middle-range theories of international relations to suit the Caribbean region.

Book Description
This book explores the impact of Latin America's political culture on the international politics of the region. It offers a general account of traditional Iberian political culture while examining how relations among states in the hemisphere — where the United States has been the central actor — have evolved over time. The authors assess the degree of consistency between domestic and international political behavior. The assessments are supported by case studies.

Book Description
The commonly held view that the interests of American business dominated U.S. foreign policy in the Caribbean during the early part of this century is challenged by Dana G. Munro, prominent scholar and former State Department official. He argues that the basic purpose of U.S. policy was to create in Latin America political and economic stability so that disorder and failure to meet foreign obligations there would not imperil the security of the United States. The U.S. government increasingly intervened in the internal affairs of the Central American and West Indian republics when it felt that their stability was threatened. This policy culminated in the military occupation of Haiti and the Dominican Republic and varying degrees of control in other countries. Originally published in 1964. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.
