Book Description
Five systems of absorption bands of N2, were investigated in the 1070-1600-A region. A 2-m ad a 3-m vacuum spectrograph, both of normalincidence-type, were used in this work. A final designation of the upper electronic state must come from a rotational analysis, because the observed T00 of the state differed from that of the W state by approximately 40 cm( -1). The potential enejgy curves of the low-lying N2 states prepared by Mulliken are compared with those calculated by using the presently determined constants. (Author).

Book Description
The vibrational isotope shift of the nitrogen absorption bands has been studied in the 830-1000 angstrom region. A 3-meter normalincidence vacuum spectrograph was used with the helium continuum as background. (Author).

Book Description
A very simple analysis of circuit reliability when the source of energy of 'power supply' is included shows that small independent sources of energy are needed. Several possible ways of satisfying this intuitively obvious need are discussed. (Author).

Book Description
Optimal energy distribution applied to a least mean square error criterion for PCM transmission is discussed. Comparisons are drawn between the optimized scheme and standard scheme for: (1) White Noise Channel (2) White Noise and Rayleigh Fading Channel. It is concluded that for few bit samples only small energy savings are attained. (Author).

Book Description
It is shown that a spatial gradient in the steady flow of an ionized gas introduces terms into the generalized Ohm's law that represent an exchange of momentum between the electrons and the gas flow. Depending upon the flow geometry and gas compressibility this electrokinetic exchange can behave like a generator, a Hall current, or a resistive current. The scale of the phenomenon is L = +/V, where V is fluid velocity, + is electron-positive charge collision time. Electrokinetic conditions apply largely at boundaries. In a resistive medium with a static B-field, the principal condition for electron-flow interchange is that magnetic pressure dominate dynamic pressure. At the boundary of a plasma jet the scale over which EK terms are important is of the order of 1 mm. Only geometry and scale considerations are used in the momentum equation. The electrokinetic generation of surface currents is as fundamental for describing moving media as spacecharge effects are in the static case. (Author).

Book Description
The ion exchange properties of ceric phosphate were investigated including rates of reaction, distribution coefficients of alkali metals, capacity and column behavior of some elements. Ceric oxide was shown to possess anion exchange properties in acid solution and cation exchange properties in basic solution. The two compounds have properties analogous to, but not identical with, zirconium oxide and phosphate. Cesium and barium were successfully separated on a short column of ceric phosphate at room temperature. These inorganic ion-exchangers show promise of providing additional means for effecting and widening the scope of radiochemical separations, an important and necessary consideration in the radioactivation analysis, of trace elements in ultrapure materials. (Author).
