Book Description
Acutely observed, sharp and absorbing - an insightful exploration of the pain and beauty of mother--daughter relationships. The page-turning new novel from bestselling Australian author Fiona Lowe. How can you know so little about those you love? With a coveted promotion dangling within reach, the last thing Addy Topic needs to do is waste precious time singing in Rookery Cove's choir. But when she's reminded how much music meant to her late mother, she can't say no. The building pressure raises the ghosts that sent her running from Rookery Cove years earlier - memories she's spent decades keeping hidden, silencing them with work, alcohol and sex. For Stephanie Gallagher, Rookery Cove was meant to be a new beginning in the slow lane. A place where she and her husband can embrace community, parenthood and evenly share the load. But the sea-change is changing everything. How much longer can they survive as a family? Brenda Lambeck is finding her feet after the death of her husband when her best friend, convinces her to join the choir. Beloved as a grandmother, Brenda is determined to mend the fraught relationship she has with her daughter, Courtney. But is that even possible when she continues to lie? In the wake of a spectacular betrayal, three women are forced to face the uncompromising truths about the choices that have shaped their relationships with those they love most. The consequences will shatter their lives and all they hold dear. After such a disaster is rebuilding even possible?

Book Description
Nearly all metaphors in the Gospel according to John relate to ancient family imagery. Thus, the disciples are born of the Father; the Father provides them with bread and drink (water); He educates them and protects them and a dwelling is prepared for them, and so on. This family imagery, which is interwoven throughout the Gospel in a complex network, provides a key to the understanding of the message of the Fourth Gospel. In this volume, after exploring numerous state-of-the-art theories on metaphor, a customised metaphor theory is developed from the Fourth Gospel itself, which can be applied to the analysis of the Gospel as a whole. The theory is based on two of the best-known metaphors in the Fourth Gospel: I am the Good Shepherd, and I am the True Vine. Subsequently, all other metaphors are analysed according to this theory.

Book Description
With compassion and compelling insight, the Pleiadians, those system-busting time-travelers from the future, take us on a journey through the unchartered lands of The Book of Earth, which comprises all human experience. While “our world goes belly-up in these most absurd of times,” they offer us “tools for survival.” During the crucial period between 1987 and 2012--a nanosecond in the annals of existence where secrets and solutions are stored--we have the unique opportunity to move from the deepest of density to the highest of frequencies--where we shift from linear to multi-dimensional living. To make this transition, we must face not only the limitations of our 3-D world with its electronic manipulation and mind control, we must embrace our own wounds, and those of our ancestors and our leaders. To heal ourselves, to raise our frequency from one of despair and fear to one of great inspiration and love, the Pleiadians urge us to rethink and reevaluate our lives: “You shall change, you will change, you must change, because this is the season of change.”

Book Description
Inspired by folklore, television, fairy tales, social media, novels, and films, Just Wonder addresses crucial themes in social and ecological justice efforts. Moving into the mid-twenty-first century, wonder—as a potentially critical sociocultural, ecological, and individual stance—will play a significant role in reconceptualizing the present to imagine a different and better world. These essays examine fairy tales and other traditional forms of the fantastic and the real to offer alternative expressions of justice relevant to gender, sex, sexuality, environment, Indigeneity, class, ability, race, decolonizing, and human and nonhuman relations. By analyzing fairy tales and wonder texts from various media through an intersectional feminist lens, Pauline Greenhill and Jennifer Orme consider how wonder genres and forms blend with diverse conceptions of seeking and enacting justice. International collaborators—both established and emerging scholars who self-identify with different subjectivities, locations, and generations and come from an impressive range of inter/disciplines—engage with contemporary and historical texts from various languages and cultural contexts, including interventions, counterparts, and comparisons to the fairy tale. Just Wonder offers a critical look at how creative wondering can expand the ability to resist modes of oppression while fostering equity, as well as encourage curiosity and imagination. In a world that can be overwhelming and precarious, this book presents scholarly, artistic, personal, and collective-action interventions to identify and respond to injustice while centering wonder and, thus, imagination, questioning, and hope. Just Wonder will appeal to fairy-tale scholars; folklorists; students and scholars of film, media studies, and cultural studies; as well as a general audience.

Book Description
From a USA Today–bestselling author, an “electrifying family drama” about a woman protecting her sister, who may not be innocent, from a murder charge (Jayne Ann Krentz, New York Times–bestselling author of Sleep No More). All her life, Ryan Gracey watched her perfect older sister from afar. Knowing she could never top Wendy’s achievements, she didn’t even try. Instead Ryan forged her own path while her family barely seemed to notice. Now Wendy shares two little girls with her perfect husband, while Ryan mourns the man she lost after a nearly fatal mistake in judgment. The sisters’ choices have taken them in different directions, which is why Ryan is stunned when Wendy calls, begging for her help. There’s been a murder—and Wendy believes she’ll be wrongfully accused. While Wendy lies low, Ryan moves back to their hometown to care for the nieces she hardly knows. Using the sleuthing skills she developed as a true crime podcaster, Ryan digs for answers with the help of an unexpected ally. Yet the trail of clues Wendy’s left behind leads to nothing but questions. Blood may be thicker than water, but what does Ryan owe a sister who becomes more and more a stranger with every revelation? “In A Family of Strangers, Emilie seamlessly mixes intrigue, romance and emotional drama as she puts family ties to the test with a protagonist you won’t soon forget. A page-turner to the end!” —Diane Chamberlain, New York Times–bestselling author of The Dream Daughter “Richards deftly shifts from women’s fiction into domestic suspense, but she doesn’t sacrifice the emotional acuity that her fans expect. Readers of relationship-focused domestic-suspense authors such as Lisa Jewell will enjoy Richards’ pivot into the genre.” —Booklist

Book Description
"Peter Saispair was born in Dalarna, a province of Sweden, in 1828. In 1862, he immigrated to Chicago, and in 1864 he transferred to the territory of Nebraska, to this spot on which we stand. Peter was a man of independent thought and broad education, made so by the study of books as well as extensive travel. He was generous and hospitable to all. Characterized by inflexible determination, he did what he believed to be right. As a man he was truthful and honest; as a neighbor helpful and kind. Tried by all standards, he was . the noblest work of God ." so read a portion of the eulogy of Peter Saispair, referred to as the 'Swedish King' by folks living near the town of Swaburg in eastern Nebraska. It was an apt summation of a remarkable man who, lured by free land and a desire for religious freedom, had, along with his pregnant wife and young daughter, left Sweden to brave raging blizzards, locust plagues, deadly illnesses, and a treacherous human foe on the American frontier. Written by the great-granddaughter of Peter Saispair, Family of Miracles is a novelization of her family's history in America, and is a tribute to the thousands of hardy souls who endured sometimes unspeakable hardships to pursue their beliefs and dreams.
