Book Description
L'APPROXIMATION PAR ELEMENTS FINIS DE LA SOLUTION D'UN PROBLEME D'EQUATIONS AUX DERIVEES PARTIELLES DEPENDANT DE PARAMETRES, CONDUIT CLASSIQUEMENT A N RESOLUTIONS DE SYSTEMES LINEAIRES, SI ON VEUT LE RESULTAT EN N VALEURS DES PARAMETRES. CETTE THESE ETUDIE UNE NOUVELLE METHODE, APPELEE PARAMETRISATION, QUI PERMET D'EVITER CES MULTIPLES RESOLUTIONS. LA PARAMETRISATION UTILISE LES PROPRIETES DE MEROMORPHIE DE LA SOLUTION DU PROBLEME DISCRET, ET CONSISTE EN : - LE CALCUL DES DERIVEES SUCCESSIVES DE LA SOLUTION DISCRETE EN UN POINT, - L'EXTRAPOLATION PAR POLYNOMES DE TAYLOR OU APPROXIMANTS DE PADE DE LA SOLUTION DISCRETE SUR L'ENSEMBLE DE VARIATION DES PARAMETRES. CETTE TECHNIQUE EST APPLIQUEE AUX PROBLEMES DE DIFFRACTION ELECTROMAGNETIQUE, RESOLUS PAR EQUATIONS INTEGRALES. LE PARAMETRE CONSIDERE EST LA FREQUENCE. LA MEROMORPHIE DES SOLUTIONS EST DEMONTREE. OUTRE UN GAIN EN TEMPS DE CALCUL IMPORTANT, LA PARAMETRISATION PERMET DE CALCULER SIMPLEMENT LES FREQUENCES DE RESONANCE. DE PLUS, ELLE AUTORISE LE CALCUL DE LA SOLUTION MEME LA OU LES EQUATIONS INTEGRALES ECHOUENT : AUX TRES BASSES FREQUENCES ET A CELLES CORRESPONDANT AUX VALEURS PROPRES DU PROBLEME INTERIEUR.

Book Description
This new, third volume of Cohen-Tannoudji's groundbreaking textbook covers advanced topics of quantum mechanics such as uncorrelated and correlated identical particles, the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field, absorption, emission and scattering of photons by atoms, and quantum entanglement. Written in a didactically unrivalled manner, the textbook explains the fundamental concepts in seven chapters which are elaborated in accompanying complements that provide more detailed discussions, examples and applications. * Completing the success story: the third and final volume of the quantum mechanics textbook written by 1997 Nobel laureate Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and his colleagues Bernard Diu and Franck Laloë * As easily comprehensible as possible: all steps of the physical background and its mathematical representation are spelled out explicitly * Comprehensive: in addition to the fundamentals themselves, the books comes with a wealth of elaborately explained examples and applications Claude Cohen-Tannoudji was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris where he also studied and received his PhD in 1962. In 1973 he became Professor of atomic and molecular physics at the Collège des France. His main research interests were optical pumping, quantum optics and atom-photon interactions. In 1997, Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, together with Steven Chu and William D. Phillips, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his research on laser cooling and trapping of neutral atoms. Bernard Diu was Professor at the Denis Diderot University (Paris VII). He was engaged in research at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and High Energy where his focus was on strong interactions physics and statistical mechanics. Franck Laloë was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

Book Description
Symmetry is a classic study of symmetry in mathematics, the sciences, nature, and art from one of the twentieth century's greatest mathematicians. Hermann Weyl explores the concept of symmetry beginning with the idea that it represents a harmony of proportions, and gradually departs to examine its more abstract varieties and manifestations—as bilateral, translatory, rotational, ornamental, and crystallographic. Weyl investigates the general abstract mathematical idea underlying all these special forms, using a wealth of illustrations as support. Symmetry is a work of seminal relevance that explores the great variety of applications and importance of symmetry.

From the Preface to the first edition (1906): "A few of the most modern books on the Theory of Functions devote some pages to the establishment of certain results belonging to our subject, and required for the special purposes in hand... But we may fairly claim that the present work is the first attempt at a systematic exposition of the subject as a whole."

Book Description
This book is an introduction to the theory of shadowing of approximate trajectories in dynamical systems by exact ones. This is the first book completely devoted to the theory of shadowing. It shows the importance of shadowing theory for both the qualitative theory of dynamical systems and the theory of numerical methods. Shadowing Methods allow us to estimate differences between exact and approximate solutions on infinite time intervals and to understand the influence of error terms. The book is intended for specialists in dynamical systems, for researchers and graduate students in the theory of numerical methods.

Book Description
And starting from there, it can induce an explicit understanding of certain fundamental features of the new scientific thinking. A formalized epistemology should not be mistaken for a crossdisciplinary or a multidisciplinary project. The latter projects are designed to offer to nonspecialists access to information, to results obtained inside specialized disciplines, as well as a certain understanding of these results; whereas a formalized epistemology should equip anyone with a framework for conceptualizing himself in whatever domain and direction he or she might choose. A formalized epistemology should not be mistaken either for an approach belonging to the modern cognitive sciences.
