Book Description
Public concern over possible health effects from electromagnetic fields (EMF) has led to the preparation of this handbook. Potential risks of EMF exposure from facilities such as power lines or mobile phone base stations present a difficult set of challenges for decision-makers. The challenges include determining if there is a hazard from EMF exposure and what the potential health impact is. Responding to these challenges requires the involvement of individuals or organizations with the right set of competencies combining relevant scientific expertise strong communication skills and good judgement in the management and regulatory areas. This handbook is intended to support decision-makers faced with a combination of public controversy scientific uncertainty and the need to operate existing facilities and/or the requirement to site new facilities appropriately. Its goal is to improve the decision-making process by reducing misunderstandings and improving trust through better dialogue. The guide may assist the general public when interacting with government agencies that regulate environmental health and with companies whose facilities may be sources of concern. References and suggestions for further reading are included.

Book Description
Potential health risks from exposure to power-frequency electromagnetic fields (EMF) have become an issue of significant public concern. This study evaluates a brochure designed to communicate EMF health risks from a scientific perspective. The study utilized a pretest-post test design in which respondents judged various sources of EMF (and other) health and safety risks, both before reading the brochure and after. Respondents assessed risks on dimensions similar to those utilized in previous studies of risk perception. In addition, detailed ratings were made that probed respondents' beliefs about the possible causal effects of EMF exposure. The findings suggest that naive beliefs about the potential of EMF exposure to cause harm were highly influenced by specific content elements of the brochure. The implications for using risk-communication approaches based on communicating scientific uncertainty are discussed.

Book Description
The book determines that risks of EMF exposure are small compared to the already existing incidence of cancer in the population. Five international studies completed since 1992 are excerpted and summarized. The concensus of these reviews appears to be a general skepticism regarding the relationship of EMFs to human health effects, particularly cancer. br This treatise on electromagnetic fields (EMF) attempts to unravel the complex problem of how these fields affect humans and animals, a challenge which has recently come under intense public scrutiny. This book provides the reader with the knowledge to make an informed, rational decision about the possible dangers inherent in our everyday contact with electric power.

Book Description
Keys, wallet, cell phone . . . ready to go! Cell phones have become ubiquitous fixtures of twenty-first-century life—suctioned to our ears and stuck in our pockets. Yet, we’ve all heard whispers that these essential little devices give you brain cancer. Many of us are left wondering, as Maureen Dowd recently asked in the New York Times, “Are cells the new cigarettes?” Overpowered brings readers, in accessible and fascinating prose, through the science, indicating biological effects resulting from low, non-thermal levels of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation (levels considered safe by regulatory agencies), coming not only from cell phones, but many other devices we use in our homes and offices every day. Dr. Blank arms us with the information we need to lobby government and industry to keep ourselves and our families safe.

Book Description
Our modern technologies are bombarding us with electromagnetic fields (EMFs) now more than ever. Are EMFs really harmful and if so, to what degree? Are all EMFs bad? The EMF controversy has now pitted scientists, action groups and the technology industry into rigid corners. In "Electromagnetic Health," the author clearly and objectively presents the evidence and latest research from a perspective that embraces both the scientific and natural health communities. The entire spectrum of electromagnetic radiation is thoroughly examined, from modern technologies to nature s sources. More importantly, the information provided in "Electromagnetic Health" invokes an entirely new and engaging perspective one that may just change the EMF conversation completely."
