The Government of Canada announced its Great Lakes Action Plan in 1989 to meet its obligations under the 1987 Protocol to the Canada-U.S. Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. One component of the Action Plan is the Cleanup Fund, which provides funds to help develop and demonstrate technologies and remedial techniques to restore beneficial uses in areas of concern (AOCs) designated by the International Joint Commission. The Fund supports two kinds of projects: generic technology development and demonstration projects applicable to several or all AOCs, and specific remedial activities in a particular AOC. This report describes over 100 projects supported by the Cleanup Fund from 1990-91 through the current year. The report organizes the descriptions by AOC, and provides for each project the start date, project status, project contact, and summary of activities and results.
