Bibliography on the Fatigue of Materials, Components and Structures
Author: J. Y. Mann
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483189511
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 513
Book Description
Bibliography on the Fatigue of Materials, Components and Structures, Volume 3 addresses the problems associated with fatigue loadings as evident in branches of engineering and technology. Such debilitating factor also affects the human skeletal system. The book provides several references that show an increasing focus being given to the problem of fatigue in materials, components, and structures. The journals and lists of references used in the book, which discuss the subject of fatigue, are chosen to give an initial identification of citations. These sources are accompanied by computer-based documentation systems. The bibliographical data for each citation are thoroughly reviewed by checking the original bases of publication. The references in the book are arranged chronologically according to its year of publication. Major use has been made of abbreviations for the titles of journals and publications. The book can serve as a valuable tool for doctors, therapists, students, and researchers in the field of medicine.

Shot Peening for Improved Fatigue Properties and Stress-corrosion Resistance
Author: James Edward Campbell
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Shot peening
Languages : en
Pages : 60
Book Description
Shot peening procedures developed over the past 40 years have resulted in substantial improvements in fatigue properties and stress corrosion resistance of high-strength alloys. These improvements have been observed in shot-peened specimens and components of high-strength steels, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and other engineering alloys. This report contains information on peening procedures that have been used in processing specimens and components to achieve these improvements in performance. Certain precautions are pointed out that should be observed in order to obtain the improved properties that have been attributed to the peening process. Some of the peening programs cited in this report indicate the peening intensities that resulted in the greatest benefit in performance based on test data covering a range of intensities, shot sizes, and other variables. (Author).

The Effect of Grain Size Upon the Fatigue Properties at 80, 1200 and 1600 F of "Precision Cast" Alloy X-40
Author: P. R. Toolin
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Metals
Languages : en
Pages : 21
Book Description
The effect of variation in the pouring temperature on the bending fatigue properties of "precision-cast" fatigue specimens of alloy X-40 when tested at room temperature, 1200 F, and 1600 F, is reported. The average unnotched fatigue strength of the low-pouring-temperature fine-grained material, is appreciably superior to that of the high-pouring-temperature material at room temperature and at 1200 F but only slightly superior at 1600 F. At all temperatures, the variation between the notched fatigue strengths of the two is less than for the unnotched. The notch sensitivity of carefully ground notches was greater at 1200 F than at either room temperature or 1600 F, where it was very small. Machined notches have higher fatigue strengths at room temperature and 1200 F than carefully ground notches. Some tensile strengths are also reported.
