Ecrits logiques et philosophiques Dix textes, échelonnés entre 1879 et 1925, qui forment une méditation continue, sur les méditations qu'il faut administrer à la langue naturelle pour satisfaire l'idéal d'une " langue formulaire de la pensée pure ". Dix textes qui se trouvent aux sources de trois courants essentiels de la pensée contemporaine : le formalisme logique, dont la figure décisive sera Bertrand Russell ; la critique du langage commun, que poursuivra, après Wittgenstein, la philosophie analytique anglo-saxonne ; et la réflexion proprement linguistique. Parmi les apports décisifs de ces essais de Frege, il faut noter la construction d'une logique extensionnelle (avec l'identification du concept et de la fonction) et la mise en place de ce " triplet " de notions : la fonction, essentiellement insaturée, l'argument qui la complète, la valeur (de vérité) que prend la fonction pour cet argument. S'y articule cette distinction valable en tout langage : s'il y a des expressions équivalentes, c'est qu'à la pluralité des sens se conjugue l'unité de la dénotation.

De 1897 à 1919, Bertrand Russell consacra l'essentiel de son attention philosophique à la connaissance mathématique. Son ambition était tout à la fois d'en éclairer la nature et d'en parfaire la rigueur en dégageant ses véritables fondements. Dès 1903, il développa dans les Principes de la mathématique sa thèse du logicisme : la totalité de la mathématique pure peut être déduite de quelques principes et concepts logiques. Mais ce n'est qu'en 1910 que les Principea Mathematica parvinrent à en offrir une démonstration précise et détaillée. Au cours du travail philosophique destiné à dégager, par la voie de l'analyse logique, les éléments fondamentaux qui devaient servir de socle à l'édifice mathématique, Russell découvrit en effet une contradiction qui menaçait son projet dans son essence même. Il y échappa grâce à sa théorie de la dénotation et à sa théorie des types. C'est autour d'elles qu'a été constitué ce recueil. Centré sur le thème de la référence et de l'autoréférence, il illustre aussi clairement l'origine mathématique de l'atomisme logique et de la réduction de la connaissance philosophique à l'analyse logique dont Russell s'est fait l'ardent avocat. This book develops a morphodynamical approach to linguistic and sign structures as an integrated response to multilevel and interrelated problems in semiolinguistic research. More broadly, the content is linked to the realities of living speech through a connection (via the concept of diacriticity) with the Merleau-Pontian phenomenology, and beyond the formal determinations of a semiolinguistic system and its calculus. Such problems are mainly epistemological (concerning the nature and legitimate scope of semiolinguistic knowledge), empirical (concerning the observational device and the data’s composition), and theoretical (regarding the choice of a conceptual and formalized explicative frame). With regard to theory, the book introduces a morphodynamical architecture of linguistic signs and operations as a suitable mathematization of Saussurean theory. The Husserlian phenomenological signification of this formal apparatus is then established, and, from an empirical standpoint, its compatibility with neurobiological experimental results is discussed.
