Excerpt from The Chicago Tribune, Vol. 2: Its First Hundred Years; 1865-1880 This is Volume II of the history of the Chicago Tribune. The first volume was published in May of 1943 and it is intended to continue the record in this way in commemora tion of the centennial year of this newspaper, 1947. The preface to Volume I gave the purpose and scope of this work in some detail.
