Book Description
It’s Christmas in Sinful and Fortune is set to participate in all the local hoopla. A Christmas gala, caroling, and a sleigh ride are on the agenda. Murder is not. But with no client and no reason to interfere with a police investigation, it looks as if Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie will have to sit this one out. Book Description
The scattered desert and mountain communities of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties grew exponentially through late twentieth-century urban flight. The "Inland Empire" became home to four million people. Their forebears' remarkable stories of survival, heroism and everyday charm and waywardness are captured here by historian Hal Durian. Unique episodes in the lives of Riverside founder John North, citrus pioneer Eliza Tibbets, hotelier Frank Miller, historian Mrs. Janet Gould and army general "Hap" Arnold are recounted, along with prison escapes, "desert rats," murder trials and church and military base lore. The famous Mission Inn's legacy is here, along with journeys to Rialto, Colton, Blythe, Twentynine Palms and other unique Inland Empire locales.

Book Description
Bill Doolin was perhaps the last great American outlaw of the nineteenth century. Once part of the Doolin-Dalton gang, he rode and robbed in the wild Indian Territory that would become Oklahoma. The Daltons were eventually shot to ribbons in their failed attempt to rob two banks at once in Coffeyville, Kansas. But Doolin went on to form a new gang that included notables such as Bitter Creek Newcomb, Black Face Charlie Pierce, a remaining Dalton brother, and the Rose of the Cimarron, Rose Dunn, sister of the notorious Dunn Brothers. Pursuing the gang was a tenacious group of U.S. marshals led by the famed Bill Tilghman. Doolin was considered something of a Robin Hood to the locals—everybody but those he robbed and killed. The marshals were determined to end his reign of terror no matter how long it took. The country, after all, was heading into a new century, and outlaws like Doolin no longer had a place in the West.
