Impulsive and Hybrid Dynamical Systems
Author: Wassim M. Haddad
Publisher: Princeton University Press
ISBN: 1400865247
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 522
Book Description
This book develops a general analysis and synthesis framework for impulsive and hybrid dynamical systems. Such a framework is imperative for modern complex engineering systems that involve interacting continuous-time and discrete-time dynamics with multiple modes of operation that place stringent demands on controller design and require implementation of increasing complexity--whether advanced high-performance tactical fighter aircraft and space vehicles, variable-cycle gas turbine engines, or air and ground transportation systems. Impulsive and Hybrid Dynamical Systems goes beyond similar treatments by developing invariant set stability theorems, partial stability, Lagrange stability, boundedness, ultimate boundedness, dissipativity theory, vector dissipativity theory, energy-based hybrid control, optimal control, disturbance rejection control, and robust control for nonlinear impulsive and hybrid dynamical systems. A major contribution to mathematical system theory and control system theory, this book is written from a system-theoretic point of view with the highest standards of exposition and rigor. It is intended for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners of engineering and applied mathematics as well as computer scientists, physicists, and other scientists who seek a fundamental understanding of the rich dynamical behavior of impulsive and hybrid dynamical systems.

Mathematical Modeling of Discontinuous Processes
Author: Andrey Antonov
Publisher: Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA
ISBN: 1618964402
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 239
Book Description
In this monograph as a mathematical apparatus are used and investigated several classes of differential equations. The most significant feature of these differential equations is the presence of impulsive effects. The main goals and the results achieved in the monograph are related to the use of this class of equation for an adequate description of the dynamics of several types of processes that are subject to discrete external interventions and change the speed of development. In all proposed models the following requirements have met: 1) Presented and studied mathematical models in the book are extensions of existing known in the literature models of real objects and related processes. 2) Generalizations of the studied models are related to the admission of external impulsive effects, which lead to “jump-like” change the quantity characteristics of the described object as well as the rate of its modification. 3) Sufficient conditions which guarantee certain qualities of the dynamics of the quantities of the modeled objects are found. 4) Studies of the qualities of the modification of the modeled objects are possible to be successful by differential equations with variable structure and impulsive effects. 5) The considerations relating to the existence of the studied properties of dynamic objects cannot be realized without introducing new concepts and proving of appropriate theorems. The main objectives can be conditionally divided into several parts: 1) New classes of differential equations with variable structure and impulses are introduced and studied; 2) Specific properties of the above-mentioned class of differential equations are introduced and studied. The present monograph consists of an introduction and seven chapters. Each chapter contains several sections.

Optimization Methods and Applications
Author: Xiao-qi Yang
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 147573333X
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 439
Book Description
This edited book is dedicated to Professor N. U. Ahmed, a leading scholar and a renowned researcher in optimal control and optimization on the occasion of his retirement from the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Ottawa in 1999. The contributions of this volume are in the areas of optimal control, non linear optimization and optimization applications. They are mainly the im proved and expanded versions of the papers selected from those presented in two special sessions of two international conferences. The first special session is Optimization Methods, which was organized by K. L. Teo and X. Q. Yang for the International Conference on Optimization and Variational Inequality, the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1998. The other one is Optimal Control, which was organized byK. ~Teo and L. Caccetta for the Dynamic Control Congress, Ottawa, 1999. This volume is divided into three parts: Optimal Control; Optimization Methods; and Applications. The Optimal Control part is concerned with com putational methods, modeling and nonlinear systems. Three computational methods for solving optimal control problems are presented: (i) a regularization method for computing ill-conditioned optimal control problems, (ii) penalty function methods that appropriately handle final state equality constraints, and (iii) a multilevel optimization approach for the numerical solution of opti mal control problems. In the fourth paper, the worst-case optimal regulation involving linear time varying systems is formulated as a minimax optimal con trol problem.

Qualitative Analysis of Set-Valued Differential Equations
Author: Anatoly A. Martynyuk
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 303007644X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 203
Book Description
The book discusses set-valued differential equations defined in terms of the Hukuhara derivative. Focusing on equations with uncertainty, i.e., including an unknown parameter, it introduces a regularlization method to handle them. The main tools for qualitative analysis are the principle of comparison of Chaplygin – Wazhewsky, developed for the scalar, vector and matrix-valued Lyapunov functions and the method of nonlinear integral inequalities, which are used to establish existence, stability or boundedness. Driven by the question of how to model real processes using a set-valued of differential equations, the book lays the theoretical foundations for further study in this area. It is intended for experts working in the field of qualitative analysis of differential and other types of equations.
