In the Country of Dreaming Caravans
Author: Gerard Houarner
Publisher: Crossroad Press
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 163
Book Description
Once and now, a little girl who plays with ghosts and spirits is lost in the desert… No family, no friends, just memories of an old life in a world of cities and cars, and a head full of visions and dreams that don’t belong in the world. She likes to tell stories. She stinks of camel. Once, she will say, “The scorpion was not always a creature of pain, just as each of us was not always what we have become.” Many times, she wonders what she is worth to the living who sell her, buy and steal her, to the spirits and ghosts and djinn and ghuls she plays with, to the Caravan of the Dead she comes to belong to, to the dead who wake her and are awakened by her. Once and now, she wonders what others are willing to pay for her stories… “A redemptive story of the saving magic of story itself. Lose yourself, and find yourself, in the tale of Aini, a virgin storyteller cast adrift by selfish parents to the whims of the desert to make her way in the world…maybe all the way to the Caravan of Dreams. In this short novel, Houarner has crafted a fantastic, beautifully dark journey to the center of the secret heart!” — John Everson, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Covenant and NightWhere "Houarner, always a maestro of the “smart” horror tale, further hones his art in this scary provocative nod to The Thousand and One Nights and other ancient traditions of phantasmal story-telling. Chock full the macabre and populated by the arabesque horrors of a culture far older than ours, this great new work by Houarner is a Must Read for all venturers into weird fiction.” —Edward Lee, author of White Trash Gothic and City Infernal

Book Description
For most of us, we tend to hyper focus on beings such as Angels, demons and spirits of the dead etc. But, as you know, there is more out there than that. There is a class of being that is neither angel nor spirit of the dead. They are a parallel entity to humans. The Islamic Satan is one of these beings; which is a departure from the west where the devil is an angel gone rouge. These entities are so intertwined with us that it is impossible to go about our days without having some interaction with them. When things go bump in the night we assume it is one of the 3 classes of spiritual entities we are most familiar with, demons, angels and spirits of the dead etc. However, more often than not, they are neither of these 3. They are unto a class of their own. In folklore they are known as Jinn also known as Djinn. Jinn were brought to light via the religion of Islam, although texts do mention them before Islam. It is from Islamic stories however where we get a clearer picture of what the Jinn are. In fact, modern ideas of the Genie in the bottle is directly from stories about the Jinn. The word genie is derived from the word Jinn. Aladdin when he rubbed his lamp was speaking to a Jinn. In the west, Jinn are very much misunderstood. Often we associate them with demons or devils. Yes, some do have malevolent intent, and as I mentioned the "devil" in Islam is a Jinn, but there are many Jinn who are "good." They are more like humans than you can imagine, yet they have abilities we do not have, but can harness. In this book, we will discuss not only the nature of and type of Jinn, but also how to bind them to work for you. Before I continue however I'd like to give a warning. Jinn, like other spiritual entities need to be communicated with care. They can grant you what you want, but be careful what you ask for. Jinn are notorious pranksters, you might get what you want, but in a way you really would rather not have it...You have been warned. With that said, let us go deeper into the world of the Jinn.

Djinn Encounters

Book Description
Hi, I am a journalist living in Turkey. Investigating the paranormal is one of my personal hobbies. In this book, you will read about some of my readers' experiences with djinns that they have shared with me. Of course, on condition that the personal details of those who told me these stories are kept confidential. As you know, paranormal subjects such as djinns, ghosts, etc. are very controversial. Naturally, the stories in this book may be met with scepticism from many points of view. Personally, I have many scientific theories about the content, causes and qualities of almost all the stories shared with me. However, my aim in this compilation is not to make a scientific analysis of the djinn experiences in the book or to propagandise any subject. My aim is to share them with the readers just as they were told to me; as personal horror or mystery stories. I hope you can enjoy reading them as much as I did. By the way; I recommend you to read the "Beliefs About Djinns" section at the end of the book before starting the book. This is a useful section that will both facilitate your understanding of the stories in the book and provide you with new information about the belief in djinns.

Could a single entity be responsible for a multitude of our paranormal experiences throughout history?Drawing upon her decades of extensive research in all facets of the paranormal, Rosemary Ellen Guiley makes a compelling case that our interactions with spirits, extraterrestrials, shadow figures, ancient aliens, demi-gods and human-creature hybrids all involve the mysterious Djinn. The Djinn are little-known in the West beyond folk tales of genies in lamps and bottles, but they are real and active in our world. They are a race of powerful, masterful shape-shifters who exist in a dimension parallel to ours. Humans have had millennia of intense engagements with the Djinn, who disguise themselves in the forms of many different entities in order to keep themselves and their true motives hidden. Some of their motives are not in our best interests. The Djinn are not the only beings interacting with humans, but their giant shadow falls across every part of our paranormal and entity contact experiences, including bedroom invasions, alien abductions, and genetics manipulators from other worlds. The Djinn are significant force in the destiny of human beings. In The Djinn Connection, Guiley explains what we need to know - and how we should respond.
