Depuis les débuts de la dentisterie, des chercheurs tendent à améliorer les outils et matériaux utilisés dans notre pratique. Dans les années 1960, les matériaux renforcés en fibres voient le jour et sont peu à peu intégrés dans les cabinets dentaires. Notre travail propose d'éclairer la composition, les avantages et inconvénients ainsi que les différentes utilisations actuelles de ces derniers. Le principal avantage de l'ajout de fibres dans les résines composites est l'amélioration de leurs propriétés mécaniques. Cette avancée a permis d'utiliser les matériaux renforcés en fibres dans de nombreux domaines de l'odontologie comme : la dentisterie restauratrice et d'urgence, la parodontologie, l'orthodontie et la prothèse. Nous commencerons par décrire les matériaux fibrés en définissant et détaillant leurs composants : les matrices résineuses ainsi que les fibres. Nous verrons par la suite les applications cliniques dans les différents secteurs de la dentisterie. Pour terminer, nous présenterons un tableau résumant les avantages et les inconvénients qui caractérisent ces matériaux.

"Dental fluorosis refers to changes in the appearance of tooth enamel that are caused by long-term ingestion of fluoride during the time teeth are forming. Studies conducted in the 1930s showed that the severity of tooth decay was lower and dental fluorosis was higher in areas with more fluoride in the drinking water. In response to these findings, community water fluoridation programs were developed to add fluoride to drinking water to reach an optimal level for preventing tooth decay, while limiting the chance of developing dental fluorosis. By the 1980s, studies in selected U.S. communities reported an increase in dental fluorosis, paralleling the expansion of water fluoridation and the increased availability of other sources of ingested fluoride, such as fluoride toothpaste (if swallowed) and fluoride supplements. This report describes the prevalence of dental fluorosis in the United States and changes in the prevalence and severity of dental fluorosis among adolescents between 1986-1987 and 1999-2004. The impetus for this work emerged from Savall’s belief that there is a doubleloop interaction between social and economic factors in organizations, between behaviors and structures, and between the quality of life in organizations and their economic performance. When managers underestimate this dynamic interaction, the resulting tension ultimately manifests in lowered performance and increased costs, what he refers to as the “hidden costs” of organizational life.
