Like a sleeping giant, Middle America rises up and violently pushes its way to the shining seas, coming to a standstill at the line in the sand: Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ. In this volume, a new leader rises in the DMZ--but what will that mean for Matty Roth, a journalist who calls the zone home? After a near-tragic misadventure in Staten Island, Matty returns to find Parco Delgado in office as provisional governor of New York. Matty's first task under the Delgado regime? Tracking down the source of one of the DMZ's greatest urban legends. Collects DMZ #29-44.

Book Description
Although a cease-fire agreement was signed in Panmunjeom on July 27, 1953, fighting between North and South Korea never stopped. The hot war was replaced by a low-intensity war. Terrorism, assassinations, infiltration of spies, and the like replaced tank battles and artillery duels. Until 1993, the United States patrolled its sector of the DMZ (demilitarized zone) in South Korea. In Call Sign: Purple Three, author Mark Heathco, who pulled 385 missions inside the DMZ during his military career, describes the preparation for a dangerous patrol in August 1985. This memoir follows the soldiers as they arrive at Warrior Base, refit for war, and finally execute the patrol itself. With great detail, Call Sign: Purple Three provides keen insight into the Korean DMZ at a time when the world thought all was well in Korea, but in reality chaos was just a hair trigger away. This insiderÕs memoir offers an understanding of what these soldiers did and the sacrifices they made.

Book Description
This book is Jongwoo Park's photo-documentation of the Demilitarized Zone or DMZ of Korea, the strip of land dividing North and South Korea. About 248 km long, 4 km wide, and 60 km from Seoul, this buffer zone between the two countries is, despite its name, one of the most militarized borders in the world, operating under strict armistice conditions following the end of the Korean War in 1953. In 2009 the South Korean Ministry of National Defense invited Park to document the DMZ, an area normally inaccessible to civilians and of which no comprehensive photographic record existed. Park did so rigorously until 2012, although the project proved a complex administrative undertaking involving detailed negotiations and planning. An unlikely tension energizes Park's series: the contrast between military presence (seen through barbed wire, outposts, and armed troops which have led to sporadic violence), and the natural beauty of the DMZ. For the isolation of this diverse landscape has allowed it to largely revert to its original state; today it is recognized as one of the world's best-preserved temperate habitats and home to several endangered species of flora and fauna.

Book Description
We decided this book should be written to tell the truth about defoliating the Korean Demilitarized Zone during 1968 to 1970, which left a deadly legacy of toxic chemicals affecting the health of U.S. soldiers, their counterparts in the Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army (KATUSA), the First Republic of Korea Army (FROKA), and Korean civilians for years to come. The lies, conspiracies, and collusion between the chemical companies and the U.S. Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs continue to this day as compensation claims and pensions by veterans of the Korean DMZ are delayed and denied until the applicants die. Congress has historically acted disparagingly towards all soldiers who were exposed to Agent Orange and other toxic defoliants while serving in theaters outside of Vietnam--that needs to stop.

Book Description
Brian Wood and artist Riccardo Burchielli's DMZ was one of DC Vertigo's longest-running series, and the final arc to the saga is here in DMZ Book Five, now in paperback. The final year of DMZ begins here! After six years of adventures--and misadventures--across the DMZ, Matty Roth's story is near its end in the last volume of Brian Wood's acclaimed series. Revisit the origins of this Second American Civil War and see just how a dangerous idea can ripple through a population and result in one of the most infamous wars in world history. The Free States army, equally vilified as insurgents and praised as patriots, gains more and more ground as the fabric of American society comes apart. Finally stopped at the Hudson by veteran U.S. troops, the glittering prize of the city of Manhattan is rapidly reduced to a war-torn slum, a.k.a the DMZ. Brian Wood presents the final stories of the unforgettable DMZ series in DMZ Book Five. Collects DMZ #60-72.
