Book Description
A decorated Vietnam veteran, scholar, and father, Curtis E. Dixon hoped to live a comfortable, fulfilling life in his hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. For nineteen years, he performed managerial and operational duties within and outside his area of expertise in an outstanding manner with the City. But false and degrading comments from Deputy City Manager John P. Bond changed his career forever. Dishonor Everywhere, But Who Cares? is the frightening true story of how one man's honor and reputation was systematically destroyed through the spiteful actions of a select group of individuals. In a tangled mixture of discrimination, racism, and office politics, Dixon filed a grievance against his employer. Reeling from daily harassment that affected his health, Dixon had no recourse but to file a lawsuit against the city. When the case went to trial in 1984, Dixon was confident the truth would be revealed. Unfortunately, the media refused to cover the Dixon trials, and deals were made outside of the courtroom that negatively affected the outcome. Dixon's case was eventually dismissed by all levels of the federal and state judicial systems except the state appeals court level. After the above, City Manager Stuart terminated Dixon's employment with the city in 1989, citing the same types of false reasons that were used throughout his court proceedings. Dishonor Everywhere, But Who Cares? tells Dixon's side of the story, warts and all, and Reveals a corrupt web of betrayal from elected officials and a large cast of Dixon's neighbors, co-workers and fellow citizens. Dixon's candor reveals a determination to set the record straight and to finally let the truth speak for itself.

Book Description
Reveals the true nature of medieval belief in the Double of the Soul • Demonstrates the survival of a pagan belief that each individual owns three souls, including a double that can journey outside the physical body • Explains the nature of death and the Other World hidden beneath the monsters and superstitions in stories from the Middle Ages Monsters, werewolves, witches, and fairies remain a strong presence in our stories and dreams. But as Claude Lecouteux shows, their roots go far deeper than their appearance in medieval folklore; they are survivors of a much older belief system that predates Christianity and was widespread over Western Europe. Through his extensive analysis of Germano-Scandinavian legends, as well as those from other areas of Europe, Lecouteux has uncovered an almost forgotten religious concept: that every individual owns three souls and that one of these souls, the Double, can—in animal or human form—leave the physical body while in sleep or a trance, journey where it chooses, then reenter its physical body. While there were many who experienced this phenomenon involuntarily, there were others—those who attracted the unwelcome persecution of the Church—who were able to provoke it at will: witches. In a thorough excavation of the medieval soul, Claude Lecouteux reveals the origin and significance of this belief in the Double, and follows its transforming features through the ages. He shows that far from being fantasy or vague superstition, fairies, witches, and werewolves all testify to a consistent ancient vision of our world and the world beyond.

Book Description
Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ-the divine Person revealed in the Bible-has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do his will, and you will see the truth of his Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.

Book Description
In lieu of the rising political consciousness and opposition to British Raj in Bengal in the late nineteenth century, by 1902, Kolkata (erstwhile Calcutta) saw the emergence of secret societies that aimed at a violent overthrow of British rule in India, of which Aurobindo Ghose and his brother Brindra Kumar Ghose were among the strongest proponents, leading the youth of Bengal. On 30 April 1908, two teenage revolutionaries—Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki—hurled a bomb at a carriage in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, in an attempt to assassinate Douglas Kingsford, who had gained notoriety among Bengali nationalists. Forty-nine were accused and 206 witnesses appeared in court, and young lawyer, Chittaranjan Das, who would later become a major figure in the independence movement, appeared for the defence. The judgment was finally delivered by Judge Beachcroft on 6 May 1909, and the case came to be recorded as one of the most sensational trials in the history of Indian independence movement! The Alipore Bomb Case: A Historic Pre-Independence Trial by Noorul Hoda accounts the same, and the contribution of intellectual revolutionaries like Aurobindo Ghose and his brother, as well as stalwarts like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, in the nationalist struggle of a colonised India aspiring complete freedom from the oppressive British rule.
