La dinamica de la migracion centroamericana esta ligada a una serie de factores asociados fundamental mente al desarrollo en la region, tales como la pobreza, la desigualdad y la violencia. Centroamerica sigue siendo afectada por su limitado desarrollo economico y social, con los indices de productividad entre los mas bajos del mundo y una mano de obra que en su mayoria es poco calificada, poco educada, informal y subempleada. Es en este contexto que muchas personas intentan salir en busca de oportunidades y condiciones que no encuentran en sus paises. Se estima que en el ano 2014 al menos 200 mil centroamericanos intentaron salir de sus paises, de los cuales unos 130 mil cruzaron la frontera hacia los Estados Unidos, mientras que 100 mil fueron deportados desde Estados Unidos y 150 mil desde Mexico. Estas realidades requieren de nuevas politicas que integren las dinamicas transnacionales de la migracion.
