Interesa indagar el conocimiento y apropiación de los derechos sexuales y reproductivos (DDSSyRR) por parte de los y las adolescentes, en tanto la sexualidad es una dimensión constitutiva de las personas y la SSyR es una esfera central de la salud y la vida. Los DDSSyRR son derechos humanos, ejes medulares de la ciudadanía y convivencia democrática. Contar con la información necesaria y conocerlos es condición fundamental pero no suficiente para que las personas puedan ejercerlos y hacerlos efectivos. La información y el conocimiento se traducen en poder para la toma de decisiones, pero ello no está desanclado de la subjetividad, la socialización de género y las condiciones de existencia de los sujetos. Por tal motivo, el concepto de apropiación de derechos, y más específicamente el de apropiación subjetiva, se torna clave en una investigación sobre los derechos vinculados a la sexualidad de los sujetos. La ausencia de información estadística actualizada y de carácter nacional sobre este tema representa un problema para la elaboración, implementación y evaluación de políticas públicas. Conocer esta información es fundamental pues es un punto central de la construcción de subjetividad y elemento de peso para el ejercicio de otros derechos humanos y construcción de ciudadanía. Asimismo, producir conocimiento al respecto es necesario para avanzar en el diseño e implementación de políticas públicas. Para que un país realmente avance en el plano de los derechos humanos de su población es necesario contar con la legislación correspondiente, avanzar en la elaboración de políticas públicas, contar con profesionales y operadores de diferentes sectores que las implementen y con una ciudadanía activa que conozca sus derechos y reivindique su cumplimiento efectivo.
