Evaluation of the ProRut System in Indiana
Author: Khaled Ksaibati
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : PRORUT (Computer program)
Languages : en
Pages : 78
Book Description
"Purdue University and the Indiana Department of Transportation evaluated the performance of a profile and rut depth (PRORUT) device developed by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. Several pavement sections with different characteristics were included in the evaluation. Accurate profiles were determined with manual surveying techniques. Subsequently, the PRORUT device was operated over the same pavement sections and an analysis was made to find the variance of the results. It was found that there was a close agreement between the PRORUT profiles and the road and level profiles in all cases except for a chip and seal section. Improvements were suggested to enhance the PRORUT operation."--Technical report documentation page

Evaluation of the South Dakota Road Profiler for the Measurement of Pavement Rut Depths
Author: Donald A. Larsen
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Pavements
Languages : en
Pages : 138
Book Description
This project evaluates the rut-depth-measurement capability of a three-sensor South Dakota Road Profiler (SDRP), which was built in-house in 1990. The study is divided into six components, which include a statistical comparison of mean-rut-depth measurements obtained with the SDRP, a Dipstick Autoread Profiler and 6-ft straightedges; evaluations of repeatability and vehicle-driver-positioning ability; and, studies of the dependency of SDRP-measured rut depth on vehicle speed, acceleration, deceleration and vehicle lateral position relative to the actual rut location.
