Book Description
This report describes a demonstration system for combining track information from a number of radar sites. The information is used to form system tracks for the entire area surveyed by the radars, and the target positions and velocities are displayed graphically using earth centered coordinates. The site tracking program is a track-while-scan system that uses a relatively simple algorithm to associate observations with tracks. The system tracker uses the Dempster-Shafer method of data fusion to assign probabilities of association between site tracks and system tracks. Track updating is performed using a Kalman filter. The system tracker was tested using both the Dempster-Shafer method and a Bayesian approach. The system tracker also includes an initial attempt at correcting biases in the site radars. The report also studies the application of a neural network to the traveling salesman problem, a problem related to that of associating data to tracks.

Book Description
Video Tracking provides a comprehensive treatment of the fundamental aspects of algorithm and application development for the task of estimating, over time, the position of objects of interest seen through cameras. Starting from the general problem definition and a review of existing and emerging video tracking applications, the book discusses popular methods, such as those based on correlation and gradient-descent. Using practical examples, the reader is introduced to the advantages and limitations of deterministic approaches, and is then guided toward more advanced video tracking solutions, such as those based on the Bayes’ recursive framework and on Random Finite Sets. Key features: Discusses the design choices and implementation issues required to turn the underlying mathematical models into a real-world effective tracking systems. Provides block diagrams and simil-code implementation of the algorithms. Reviews methods to evaluate the performance of video trackers – this is identified as a major problem by end-users. The book aims to help researchers and practitioners develop techniques and solutions based on the potential of video tracking applications. The design methodologies discussed throughout the book provide guidelines for developers in the industry working on vision-based applications. The book may also serve as a reference for engineering and computer science graduate students involved in vision, robotics, human-computer interaction, smart environments and virtual reality programmes

Book Description
Detailed closed-loop bandwidth and transient response approach is a subject rarely found in current literature. This innovative resource offers practical explanations of closed-loop radar tracking techniques in range, Doppler and angle tracking. To address analog closed loop trackers, a review of basic control theory and modeling is included. In addition, control theory, radar receivers, signal processors, and circuitry and algorithms necessary to form the signals needed in a tracker are presented. Digital trackers and multiple target tracking are also covered, focusing on g-h and g-h-k filters. Readers learn techniques for modeling digital, closed-loop trackers. The radar circuitry/block diagrams necessary for range, Doppler and angle tracking are presented and described, with examples and simulations included. Factors such as noise and Swerling type fluctuations are taken into account. In addition to numerous worked examples, this approachable reference includes MATLAB® code associated with analysis, simulations and figures. The book contains solutions to practical problems, making it useful for both novice and advanced radar practitioners. Software will be available for download on this page.

Book Description
This second of three volumes in the Principles of Modern Radar series offers a much-needed professional reference for practicing radar engineers. It provides the stepping stones under one cover to advanced practice with overview discussions of the most commonly used techniques for radar design, thereby bridging readers to single-topic advanced books, papers, and presentations. It spans a gamut of exciting radar capabilities from exotic waveforms to ultra-high resolution 2D and 3D imaging methods, complex adaptive interference cancellation, multi-target tracking in dense scenarios, multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) and much more. All of this material is presented with the same careful balance of quantitative rigor and qualitative insight of Principles of Modern Radar: Basic Principles. Each chapter is likewise authored by recognized subject experts, with the rigorous editing for consistency and suggestions of numerous volunteer reviewers from the radar community applied throughout. Advanced academic and training courses will appreciate the sets of chapter-end problems for students, as well as worked solutions for instructors. Extensive reference lists show the way for further study.
