The eighteenth century English poet, dramatist and philosopher, Edward Young is best remembered today for the enormously popular ‘Night-Thoughts’, a long, didactic poem contemplating the theme of death. Aratus of Soli was a third century BC didactic poet at the court of Antigonus Gonatas of Macedonia, where he wrote his famous astronomical poem ‘Phaenomena’ (Appearances).
