Le soudage est un procede d'assemblage des structures mecaniques dont l'importance n'est plus a souligner. Pour maitriser le procede de soudage t.i.g. (tungstene-inert-gaz), il a semble utile de definir de facon tres precise les parametres qui influencent la formation du bain de soudure ainsi que sa morphologie (la penetration p, la largeur l et le rapport p/l). Ce travail est consacre au parametrage du procede de soudage t.i.g. Sans metal d'apport puis avec apport de fil chaud. L'etude metallurgique du soudage t.i.g. Avec fil chaud a permis de montrer l'effet de differents parametres sur les caracteristiques et le comportement des assemblages soudes. Les essais ont ete faits en utilisant un materiel de soudage assiste par ordinateur. Les parametres etudies sont notamment lies a la piece soudee (preparation des joints et des surfaces), a l'electrode refractaire (materiau, diametre, affutage), au metal d'apport (composition chimique, diametre, forme) et a l'arc de soudage (longueur, regime). L'etude et ses applications ont ete faites sur des eprouvettes tubulaires (gws- a42). La definition des parametres devrait permettre de prolonger cette etude essentiellement experimentale par des developpements plus theoriques sur ce probleme typique de ceux qui se posent dans les milieux diphasiques (solide-liquide) tels que le probleme de stefan.

The book intends to give a state-of-the-art overview of flexoelectricity, a linear physical coupling between mechanical (orientational) deformations and electric polarization, which is specific to systems with orientational order, such as liquid crystals. Chapters written by experts in the field shed light on theoretical as well as experimental aspects of research carried out since the discovery of flexoelectricity. Besides a common macroscopic (continuum) description the microscopic theory of flexoelectricity is also addressed. Electro-optic effects due to or modified by flexoelectricity as well as various (direct and indirect) measurement methods are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the role of flexoelectricity in pattern-forming instabilities. While the main focus of the book lies in flexoelectricity in nematic liquid crystals, peculiarities of other mesophases (bent-core systems, cholesterics, and smectics) are also reviewed. Flexoelectricity has relevance to biological (living) systems and can also offer possibilities for technical applications. The basics of these two interdisciplinary fields are also summarized.
