La notion d’attachement entre un propriétaire et son chien ou chat est, en plus d’être très complexe, aujourd’hui très forte. Plus qu’un simple acteur de la santé animale, le vétérinaire est aussi le garant de cette relation propriétaire-animal de compagnie et doit se positionner en professionnel de ce lien. Cependant, les composantes du lien qui unit un propriétaire à son animal restent assez peu connues et le vétérinaire a parfois du mal à cerner le couple client-patient qui passe la porte de sa consultation. Ainsi, nous avons mené une étude auprès de propriétaires français de chiens et de chats dans le but d’aider à décrypter ce lien et ses caractéristiques. Cette enquête a été conduite à travers un questionnaire auto-administré via internet. Ensuite, par une analyse en composantes principales, deux axes principaux ont été mis en évidence : la relation à l’animal, d’une part, et la satisfaction du client vis-à-vis de son vétérinaire, d’autre part. Dès lors, nous avons pu conclure notre enquête par des corrélations entre la relation établie entre le propriétaire et son animal, le temps passé avec lui et la fréquence de friandises données, indépendamment de l’opinion que peut se faire le client à propos de son vétérinaire. Cependant, une typologie plus précise prenant en compte notamment le caractère des propriétaires de chiens et de chats n’a pas pu être mise en évidence. Cette étude souligne l’importance et l’intérêt d’associer des sciences humaines à la pratique vétérinaire.

La relation homme-chien passe par le concept de la communication; il faut donc en connaître les principes.Dans un premier temps, l'auteur explique la notion de communication multicanaux et nous montre la manière dont chacune des espèces, humaine et canine, privilégie un certain mode de communication Il nous fait ensuite part des connaissances actuelles sur la communication entre l'homme et le chien (Canis familiaris), en distinguant deux catégories d'humains. Les enfants en période "pré-linguistique" semblent être en phase avec leur compagnon canin grâce à l'emploi des mêmes canaux de communication; les adultes et enfants en période "post-linguistique" privilégient quant à eux, la communication verbale, ce qui ne facilite pas les interactions avec un être dépourvu de langage. Dans les deux cas, nous nous apercevons qu'une perturbation de la communication homme-chien, est à l'origine d'agressivité et de multiples troubles comportementaux chez le chien. L'auteur, dans un dernier temps, suggère les bienfaits de cette relation sur l'homme –tant sur le plan psychologique que physique– et aborde la notion de " Thérapie Facilité par l'Animal".

The 2018 FAO-OIE-WHO (Tripartite) zoonoses guide, “Taking A Multisectoral, One Health Approach: A Tripartite Guide to Addressing Zoonotic Diseases in Countries” (2018 TZG) is being jointly developed to provide member countries with practical guidance on OH approaches to build national mechanisms for multisectoral coordination, communication, and collaboration to address zoonotic disease threats at the animal-human-environment interface. The 2018 TZG updates and expands on the guidance in the one previous jointly-developed, zoonoses-specific guidance document: the 2008 Tripartite “Zoonotic Diseases: A Guide to Establishing Collaboration between Animal and Human Health Sectors at the Country Level”, developed in WHO South-East Asia Region and Western Pacific Region. The 2018 TZG supports building by countries of the resilience and capacity to address emerging and endemic zoonotic diseases such as avian influenza, rabies, Ebola, and Rift Valley fever, as well as food-borne diseases and antimicrobial resistance, and to minimize their impacts on health, livelihoods, and economies. It additionally supports country efforts to implement WHO International Health Regulations (2005) and OIE international standards, to address gaps identified through external and internal health system evaluations, and to achieve targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2018 TZG provides relevant country ministries and agencies with lessons learned and good practices identified from country-level experiences in taking OH approaches for preparedness, prevention, detection and response to zoonotic disease threats, and provides guidance on multisectoral communication, coordination, and collaboration. It informs on regional and country-level OH activities and relevant unisectoral and multisectoral tools available for countries to use.
