[...] By facilitating sharing of information and best practices, the CCOHR ensures awareness of treaty obligations, including the views of treaty bodies, which can influence policy and program development, and in turn contribute to the implementation of the treaties. [...] The CCOHR also facilitates the preparation of Canada's reports to the UN on its implementation of human rights treaties and discussion of the concluding observations. [...] Canada has also integrated gender equality into its development cooperation with countries in conflict, post-conflict, and reconstruction, for example, support for victims of sexual violence, technical assistance in the area of gender equality, which resulted in the creation of family violence units in police forces and the establishment of women's shelters, and research on the involvement of girl.
