Book Description
The book explores how we as humans communicate and considers the "Placements' of: how we see things, how we hear things, who we smell things, how we taste things and how we feel things that allow us to understand our environment and respond to messages. Messages get distorted, misunderstood our challenge is to make our messages clear and precise. Effective communication is a skill, some have it naturally, some of us learn it through life experience, however in the chapters of this book we explore the theory and practice of effective communication. There are practical examples and ways to coach yourself become a more effective communicator.

Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 325
Book Description
Vehicular Communications and Networks: Architectures, Protocols, Operation and Deployment discusses VANETs (Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks) or VCS (Vehicular Communication Systems), which can improve safety, decrease fuel consumption, and increase the capacity of existing roadways and which is critical for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) industry. Part one covers architectures for VCS, part two describes the physical layer, antenna technologies and propagation models, part three explores protocols, algorithms, routing and information dissemination, and part four looks at the operation and deployment of vehicular communications and networks. - Comprehensive coverage of the fundamental principles behind Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETS) and the rapidly growing need for their further development - Thorough overview of the design and development of key technologies and devices - Explores the practical application of this technology by outlining a number of case studies, testbeds and simulations employing vehicular communications and networks

Globalization of Mobile and Wireless Communications
Author: Ramjee Prasad
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400701071
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 345
Book Description
Globalization of Mobile and Wireless Communications is a collection of cutting-edge research in mobile and wireless communications with impact on developments as far forward as 2020 and beyond. The book draws upon the insights and performed research work of leading experts in the field. Topics of discussion are related but not limited to spectrum-efficient radio interface technologies, enabling technologies for reconfigurability, wireless sensor networks, cognitive networks, coherent wireless transmission, algorithmic design, middleware for novel services and applications. The material has been edited to provide a vision for the future of mobile and wireless, towards a dynamic communication system that breaks down the barriers between communications means; and evolves and integrates business models and culture to match the technological evolution. In addition, strategies on how to overcome the technological challenges for achieving that vision are also outlined.

Neuromotor Mechanisms in Human Communication
Author: Doreen Kimura
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0195345290
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 210
Book Description
This monograph is based on 20 years of research with patients who have experienced pathology in one hemisphere of the brain. It deals with brain mechanisms in human communicative behavior, and with related motor functions, from a broadly biological point of view. In so doing, the work discusses the possible evolutionary origins of human communication, the relation of brain mechanisms in communicative behavior to analogous nonhuman behaviors, and the neural systems involved in various levels and kinds of communication. In addition, noncommunicative mechanisms which parallel those used in communication--such as manual and oral praxis, and constructional behavior-- are outlined in detail. Individual differences in brain organization for such functions, related to hand preference and sex, are also explored. Although there is extensive reference to central nervous system pathology, the emphasis throughout is on how the findings contribute to understanding normal brain mechanisms. Much new data is presented along with the theoretical treatment of human communication which emphasizes a behavioral rather than a linguistic approach. This in turn provides continuity with nonhuman primates and early hominids. The work will interest psycholinguists, cognitive psychologists, neurologists, clinical neuropsychologists, speech pathologists, and advanced students in these fields.
