Book Description
I am pleased to present to students of the divine science of Indian astrology another volume of my collected articles. K.N. Rao, my jyotisha-guru, always emphasized and encouraged research, beginning with what he called a "micro-research" in which the sample size was 10 to 20 birth charts. Several of the articles in this volume fall into that category.Babel's Tower, for example, is a study of the charts of people who are inclined to acquire language skills, so much so that they become "polyglots," defined as individuals fluent in five or more languages. Here I identify the common features in their birth charts, which then become predictive parameters. In an article on the astrology of space exploration, Where No Man Has Gone Before, I examine the chart of those adventuresome men who first went into space in rocket ships, including the astronauts that had the unique destiny of walking on the Moon. I wanted to discover those astrological factors that gave rise to such a special form of travel, and I share my findings in this article.By The Numbers Benign is a different kind of research article. Here I am presenting and illustrating a unique interpretive concept, the application of shubha sankhya yogas in the divisional charts, particularly D-10. I illustrate how natural benefics falling in dusshtana houses get redeemed by such yogas and produce very good results in their periods and sub-periods. Udu's Clue is not a research article per se, but a presentation and illustration of the critical importance of the nakshatra dispositor for accurately assessing the inherent potentials of any mahadasha lord. I show how certain events that a period brought can only be understood in the light of this interpretive principle This volume concludes with Graha Bala, an article on the important concept of planetary strength and the two quantitative approaches that exist within Jyotisha for measuring this. I demonstrate how vitally important it is to apply these measures when assessing the kind of results any yoga in a birth chart may bring.I hope readers find these articles interesting, but also valuable in further developing their own interpretative abilities.

Book Description
The theme of this third volume of my collected articles is how planets in certain conditions in a birth chart give quite the opposite effect to what might be expected based on some standard interpretive principle of Jyotisha. When a planet is in its debilitation sign, like Venus in Virgo, it is said to be "neecha" or "fallen," and therefore incapable of giving good results in its period and sub-periods. All of what it signifies, such as love relationships, suffer, as well as the significations of the houses of the birth chart that it rules. However, there are certain conditions that change this status and enable such planets to give good, even spectacular results. This is subject of the first article, An Enigma Wrapped in a Mystery. The next article explores the particularly paradoxical condition of a planet when it is debilitated in both the birth chart and the navamsha, but then also vargottama, a condition of strength. Does such a planet become doubly weak, or does it get redeemed? Double Trouble or Saving Grace? answers this question and provides guidelines for the interpretation of these enigmatic planets.Combustion and planetary war are two other conditions of planets that are considered highly unfavorable. The first occurs when planets are too close in longitude to the Sun, and the latter is when two planets are within less than an degree of longitude of each other. All the natural significations of these planets, as well as those of the houses they rule, are said to suffer. Any good yogas formed by planets in such conditions will not bear fruit according to the theory. But is it always so? The Icarus Factor explores this important question using the charts of 20 world famous personalities. The results may surprise you.The effect ascribed to a debilitated planet in the classical text of Vedic astrology is that it is "weak" and therefore cannot give good and favorable results. However, there are many conditions also given in the ancient texts that modify and even reverse this indication. This article deals with one such special condition in which the debilitated planet not only doesn't give unfavorable results, it brings great success and fame to the individual. The charts of former President Gerald Ford, artist Pablo Picasso, supermodel Lauren Hutton, author Stephen King, actress Demi Moore, TV journalist Tom Brokow, along with others are used to illustrate this Great Parashara Exception. In the astrology of ancient India, Rahu, the North Node of the Moon, and Saturn are designated as two dire natural malefics. As such, when these two run as a planetary period and sub-period, it can bring a very challenging time in a person's life. In Iron and Steel students learn the conditions under which this will be especially true, as well as exceptions when these periods can actually produce very favorable results. Profusely illustrated, this article will enable students to accurately interpret what are often paradoxical times in a person's life. What makes Jyotisha rather complicated is that for every interpretative principle there is an exception. These must be learned as well in order to accurately interpret birth charts. Hopefully the articles in this volume will help students to do so.

Book Description
A new book on Jyotisha Astrology: Its experimental proof in cell biology and the science behind it! Unbelievable? Could you possibly imagine a book that provided a scientific proof of astrology? One that not only tells the story of many scientific experiments testing and verifying astrological predictions, but which also provides a full physical theory of the science behind it? In other words: a book that examines astrology on a full scientific basis? The Science of Medical Astrology: The Experimental Proof of Jyotisha does exactly that. Written by a rare combination of supremely skilled individuals, one a top expert in veterinary science, with a reputation that takes him for private consultations all over India, and the other a scientist with top qualifications from two of the world’s best scientific universities, a Master’s in Natural Sciences from the UK’s University of Cambridge, and a PhD from M.I.T., partly directed by a famous Nobel laureate in physics. Rameshrao Narayan PhD and Alex Hankey PhD are the authors of this extraordinary text. As a young vet from Bangalore, Rameshrao Narayan refused to accept a Jyotishi’s warnings of a nearly fatal accident. Over the next three years, as he lay in bed recovering, he learned India’s ancient system of Jyotisha astrology. As luck would have it, Professor Alex Hankey, who directs PhD research at the S-VYASA Yoga University, met Rameshrao and agreed to become his PhD guide on the very day that he joined the university. The book is an outgrowth of Rameshrao’s insights and PhD research combined with Alex’s scientific skills. It tells a simple story: first experiments on vaccination of sheep and goats were compromised by a deadly storm that killed a third of the flock. Resulting data were problematic. Friendship with the Director of the Institute producing veterinary vaccines for all Karnataka led Rameshrao to embark on a new series of experiments, where predictions were made about the success of such production processes. Very clear results were obtained: Jupiter and the Moon supported life, while Rahu, the North Node of the Moon, opposed it. Solar eclipses had even stronger inimical effects than Rahu. Rameshrao’s research was much acclaimed and won him the Best Research in Conference Award at the WAIRCO Conference in Colombo in 2013. Alex developed a theory combining complexity biology and quantum astrophysics that India’s greatest living physicist could not fault. The rest is history, compellingly narrated in the book.

Then the additional conditions required for proper formation of the Yoga are considered. Finally, other important factors which may affect the good or bad results given by that particular Yoga are discussed. These factors include placements of planets forming such yogas in various houses, signs, nakshatras and navamshas. They also include influences of other benefic and malefic planets on them; the overall theme of horoscope and Mahadashas (planetary periods). For better understanding, relevant examples from horoscopes have been featured. This way; logical, balanced and comprehensive approach has been implemented in case of each one of these Yogas.
