Book Description
Cohomology of Drinfeld Modular Varieties aims to provide an introduction to this subject and to the Langlands correspondence for function fields. These varieties are the analogues for function fields of the Shimura varieties over number fields. The Langlands correspondence is a conjectured link between automorphic forms and Galois representations over a global field. By analogy with the number-theoretic case, one expects to establish the conjecture for function fields by studying the cohomology of Drinfeld modular varieties, which has been done by Drinfeld himself for the rank two case. This second volume is concerned with the ArthurSHSelberg trace formula, and to the proof in some cases of the Ramanujan-Petersson conjecture and the global Langlands conjecture for function fields. The author uses techniques that are extensions of those used to study Shimura varieties. Though the author considers only the simpler case of function rather than number fields, many important features of the number field case can be illustrated. Several appendices on background material keep the work reasonably self-contained. This book will be of much interest to all researchers in algebraic number theory and representation theory.

Book Description
This second volume of Featured Reviews makes available special detailed reviews of some of the most important mathematical articles and books published from 1997 through 1999. Also included are excellent reviews of several classic books and articles published prior to 1970. Among those reviews, for example, are the following: Homological Algebra by Henri Cartan and Samuel Eilenberg, reviewed by G. Hochschild; Faisceaux algebriques coherents by Jean-Pierre Serre, reviewed by C. Chevalley; and On the Theory of General Partial Differential Operators by Lars Hormander, reviewed by J. L. Lions. In particular, those seeking information on current developments outside their own area of expertise will find the volume very useful. By identifying some of the best publications, papers, and books that have had or are expected to have a significant impact in applied and pure mathematics, this volume will serve as a comprehensive guide to important new research across all fields covered by MR.

Book Description
In one guise or another, many mathematicians are familiar with certain arithmetic groups, such as $\mathbf{Z}$ or $\textrm{SL}(n, \mathbf{Z})$. Yet, many applications of arithmetic groups and many connections to other subjects within mathematics are less well known. Indeed, arithmetic groups admit many natural and important generalizations. The purpose of this expository book is to explain, through some brief and informal comments and extensive references, what arithmetic groups and their generalizations are, why they are important to study, and how they can be understood and applied to many fields, such as analysis, geometry, topology, number theory, representation theory, and algebraic geometry. It is hoped that such an overview will shed a light on the important role played by arithmetic groups in modern mathematics. Titles in this series are co-published with International Press, Cambridge, MA.Table of Contents: Introduction; General comments on references; Examples of basic arithmetic groups; General arithmetic subgroups and locally symmetric spaces; Discrete subgroups of Lie groups and arithmeticity of lattices in Lie groups; Different completions of $\mathbb{Q}$ and $S$-arithmetic groups over number fields; Global fields and $S$-arithmetic groups over function fields; Finiteness properties of arithmetic and $S$-arithmetic groups; Symmetric spaces, Bruhat-Tits buildings and their arithmetic quotients; Compactifications of locally symmetric spaces; Rigidity of locally symmetric spaces; Automorphic forms and automorphic representations for general arithmetic groups; Cohomology of arithmetic groups; $K$-groups of rings of integers and $K$-groups of group rings; Locally homogeneous manifolds and period domains; Non-cofinite discrete groups, geometrically finite groups; Large scale geometry of discrete groups; Tree lattices; Hyperbolic groups; Mapping class groups and outer automorphism groups of free groups; Outer automorphism group of free groups and the outer spaces; References; Index. Review from Mathematical Reviews: ...the author deserves credit for having done the tremendous job of encompassing every aspect of arithmetic groups visible in today's mathematics in a systematic manner; the book should be an important guide for some time to come.(AMSIP/43.

Book Description
Originally published in 1995, Cohomology of Drinfeld Modular Varieties aimed to provide an introduction, in two volumes, both to this subject and to the Langlands correspondence for function fields. The present volume is devoted to the geometry of these varieties, and to the local harmonic analysis needed to compute their cohomology. Though the author considers only the simpler case of function rather than number fields, many important features of the number field case can be illustrated.

Book Description
This book is, on the one hand, a pedagogical introduction to the formalism of slopes, of semi-stability and of related concepts in the simplest possible context. It is therefore accessible to any graduate student with a basic knowledge in algebraic geometry and algebraic groups. On the other hand, the book also provides a thorough introduction to the basics of period domains, as they appear in the geometric approach to local Langlands correspondences and in the recent conjectural p-adic local Langlands program. The authors provide numerous worked examples and establish many connections to topics in the general area of algebraic groups over finite and local fields. In addition, the end of each section includes remarks on open questions, historical context and references to the literature.

Book Description
The 'Arithmetic and Geometry' trimester, held at the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, focussed on recent work on Serre's conjecture and on rational points on algebraic varieties. The resulting proceedings volume provides a modern overview of the subject for graduate students in arithmetic geometry and Diophantine geometry. It is also essential reading for any researcher wishing to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field. Highlights include Tim Browning's survey on applications of the circle method to rational points on algebraic varieties and Per Salberger's chapter on rational points on cubic hypersurfaces.

Book Description
This volume contains the proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Arithmetic, Geometry, Cryptography, and Coding Theory, held (online) from May 31 to June 4, 2021. For over thirty years, the biennial international conference AGC$^2$T (Arithmetic, Geometry, Cryptography, and Coding Theory) has brought researchers together to forge connections between arithmetic geometry and its applications to coding theory and to cryptography. The papers illustrate the fruitful interaction between abstract theory and explicit computations, covering a large range of topics, including Belyi maps, Galois representations attached to elliptic curves, reconstruction of curves from their Jacobians, isogeny graphs of abelian varieties, hypergeometric equations, and Drinfeld modules.

Book Description
Cohomology of Drinfeld Modular Varieties aims to provide an introduction to both the subject of the title and the Langlands correspondence for function fields. These varieties are the analogs for function fields of Shimura varieties over number fields. This present volume is devoted to the geometry of these varieties and to the local harmonic analysis needed to compute their cohomology. To keep the presentation as accessible as possible, the author considers the simpler case of function rather than number fields; nevertheless, many important features can still be illustrated. It will be welcomed by workers in number theory and representation theory.
