This book provides a comprehensive history of the emergence and the formation of the concept of sovereignty in China from the year 1840 to the present. The Commission on Extraterritoriality in China, composed of representatives of the United States of America, Belgium, the British Empire, China, France, Denmark, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, was established in accordance with Resolution V and additional resolutions adopted by the Washington Conference on the Limitation of Armament on December 10, 1921.
