A Method for Determining the Aerodynamic Characteristics of Two- and Three-dimensional Shapes at Hypersonic Speeds
Author: H. Reese Ivey
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamic load
Languages : en
Pages : 28
Book Description
A method is developed for calculating the pressures on aerodynamic shapes at very high supersonic speeds in dense air with the ratio of specific heats equal to 1. The method is applicable to any body of revolution at zero angle of attack and to any two-dimensional profile. The results of the present paper are compared with previous work of Von Karman and Epstein on this problem and the difference explained.

Use of a Characteristic Surfaces for Unisymmetrical Supersonic Flow Problems
Author: W. E. Moeckel
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamics, Supersonic
Languages : en
Pages : 674
Book Description
Application of the method of characteristics to the linearized three-dimensional equation results in a relatively simple system of difference equations that can be used to compute the supersonic flow past boundaries for which no other linearized solutions are available.
