Book Description
Herein are 16 illustrated stories about “Bumper the White Rabbit and His Friends. This is a companion volume to “Bumper the White Rabbit” which also contains 16 illustrated stories about the adventures of Bumper and his friends. All boys and girls who love reading and who love animals should become acquainted with Bumper the white rabbit, with Bobby Gray Squirrel, with Buster the Bear, and with White Tail the deer, for they are all brave and fearless in danger, and so lovable that you won’t lay down any one of the books without saying wistfully, “I almost wish I had them really and truly as friends and not just storybook acquaintances.” That, of course, is a splendid wish; but none of us could afford to have a big menagerie of wild animals, for that’s just what you would have to do if you brought the books to life. Bumper has many friends, such as Mr. Blind Rabbit, Fuzzy Wuzz and Goggle Eyes, his country cousins; and Bobby Gray Squirrel had his near cousins, Stripe the chipmunk and Webb the flying squirrel; while Buster and White Tail were favoured with an endless number of friends and relatives. If we turned them all loose from the books, and put them in a ten-acre lot—but no, ten acres wouldn’t be big enough to accommodate them, perhaps not even a hundred acres. The stories and adventures of Bumper in this volume are: I Bumper And Sleepy The Opossum II Browny The Muskrat III Billy The Mink IV Mr. Beaver Has A Surprise V The Terrible News The Birds Brought VI The Fire In The Woods VII Bumper’s Mad Race With The Fire VIII How They Crossed The River IX The Truce X House Hunting In The Woods XI Pink Nose And Rolly Polly XII Downy The Woodpecker And Belt The Sapsucker XIII How Killer The Snake Broke The Truce XIV An Adventure With Sneaky And Mr. Fox XV What Happened At The Bottom Of The Pit XVI What Buster Did To Loup, Sneaky And Mr. Fox This volume is sure to keep you and your young ones enchanted for hours, if not because of the quantity, then their quality. They will have you coming back for more time and again. ============ KEYWORDS/TAGS: Bumper, White Rabbit, fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, childrens stories, bygone era, fairydom, fairy kingdom, ethereal, fairy land, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, happy place, happiness, laughter, forest, woodland, Sleepy, Opossum, Browny, Muskrat, Billy, Mink, Mr. Beaver, Surprise, Terrible News, Birds, Fire, Woods, Mad Race, Cross, River, Truce, House Hunting, Pink Nose, Rolly Polly, Downy, Woodpecker, Belt, Sapsucker, Killer The Snake, Broken Truce, Adventure, Sneaky, Mr. Fox, Bottom Of The Pit, Loup, Wolf, Trees, Shelter, Burn

Book Description
In the woods, on top of a mountain, in a far-off country there once lived a family of nice bears. The author calls them nice bears, for they were. Of course they had long claws, and sharp teeth, but they never bit anyone, or scratched anyone, because there was no-one living in that part of the woods who bothered them, or shot at them or teased them. The bears lived quietly by themselves in a den amongst the rocks. It was a nice, cosy, warm place. In this den lived five bears. There was Mr. Bear, the papa, and Mrs. Bear, the mother, and there were three little bear cubs. One little bear was named Gruffo, because he had such a deep, gruff voice, though it was not at all cross. And another bear was named Muffo, because he had such big, soft furry paws that when he folded them together it looked just as if he were carrying a muff. And there was the smallest of the three, called Dido. Now, in this book, the author is going to tell twelve of the adventures Dido had. They are: I Dido Cuts Up II Dido Is Caught III Dido Is Trained IV Dido Learns To Dance V Dido Crosses The Ocean VI Dido In The Country VII Dido Meets Don VIII Dido Helps A Girl IX Dido In The Bakery X Dido Scares A Man XI Dido In The Circus XII Dido In A Fire In all nursery literature animals have played a conspicuous part; and the reason is obvious, for nothing entertains a child more than the antics of an animal. These stories abound in amusing incidents such as children adore and the characters are so full of life, so appealing to a child's imagination, that none will be satisfied until they have met all of their favorites- Squinty, Slicko, Mappo, and the rest. 10% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to charities. Book Description
Here are the stories and adventures of Chinook, the mischievous Cinnamon Bear, who lives, wild, in the rich woods of Oregon. In this book you will be able to follow the adventures of Chinook, the cinnamon bear and his sister Snookie and of the Ranger’s Boy, the child will learn of tree mice and burrow mice, and of the little mountain pack-rats who build tepees, of those giant mousers, the bobcat and the California mountain lion, to say nothing of the bat, pika, elk, and snowshoe rabbit, and the ever present Douglas squirrel. He will wander through forests of spruce and fir to the snow-clad peaks, and back along cascading rivers, as the two cubs learn of the world in which they live. The Literary Review of the New York Evening Post has said of this book: This little bear will delight all children just because he is a ball of mischief, sagacity, awkwardness—a real bear. Allen Chaffee’s books are unusual for vivacity, humor, and truth to the characters of the no longer dumb beasts. 10% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to charities. Book Description
Herein are 10 well illustrated Russian stories for children compiled and retold by Vallery Carrick. This is a collection of ten fantastic stories about Russian peasant life for young children. Because life on the steppe and in the forests was so dependent on animals and farming, it is not surprising to find comical interactions of humans with animals, particularly bears, the symbol of Russia. The text is amply illustrated with pen and ink drawings throughout. Valerian (Vallery) Carrick (1869-1942) was a Norwegian author, translator, painter and Illustrator. He wrote “Picture Folk Tales” and followed this up with “More Russian Picture Tales”. Both were originally published in 1914 but proved so popular a rerun was ordered in 1920. The gap between the two could be ascribed to the effects of WWI on commerce. The stories and adventures in this volume are: The Cock and the Bean The Goat and the Ram The Hungry Wolf The Peasant and the Bear The Dog and the Cock King Frost The Bear's Paw The Bear and the Old Man's Daughters The Straw Ox The Fox and the Blackbird So, wrap up warm and come out onto the Russian steppe with me, and let us listen and watch, and I promise you it will be worthwhile. This volume is sure to keep you and your young ones enchanted for hours, if not because of the quantity, then the quality of the stories. They will have you and your loved ones coming back for more, time and again. ============ KEYWORDS/TAGS: Children’s stories, Childrens, Folklore, Fairy, Folk, Tales, bedtime story, legends, storyteller, fables, moral tales, myths, happiness, laughter, , angry, animals, awl, axe, bark, bean, Bear, beast, beautiful, beaver, birch, blackbird, bloom, boil, bones, bottom, bow wow, boy, bread, Bruin, charcoal, chicken, clever, cock-a-doodle-do, cottage, daughter, delight, den, dogs, ducks, face, farmyard, flax, fox, frost, freeze, funny, gateway, gold, goose, guest, hay cutter, hay make, hens, hoar-frost, hobble, honey, Horse, icicle, King, queen, lime tree, lumber, master, Mistress, O-ho, old, oven, peasant, Peter, pleasure, poppy, queer, Ram, ride, sack, sing, scarf, scold, shiver, shoes, silver, sledge, sleigh, smith, spring, step daughter, step mother, tail, tale, village, wander, wolf, wool, Wow-wow, yard, young
