"This brief will describe the Medical Section, its membership, and their duties, and under what terms of reference this brief is submitted. The brief will outline the contribution of the pharmaceutical industry to the improvement of medical care and the way in which the physician in this industry helps in drug evaluation trials that necessarily precede the introduction of new drugs. The brief will outline the scope of therapeutic trials currently being carried out in Canada and will point out the need for additional facilities for the study of drugs or methodology and for the training of investigators for the conduct of drug trials. Finally, the brief will contain the recommendations with which the Medical Section of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association respectfully submits to this Royal Commission."--Introduction.
