Book Description
Excerpt from Books, Pamphlets and Newspapers Printed at Newark, New Jersey, 1776-1900 The town or newark saw a century pass by before the first printing press of which any record has been found was set up within its limits. It is true that David Ogden, the distinguished Newark lawyer, published a letter To the Several Persons claiming under the Indian Purchases in regard to the adjudicated dispute between the purchasers and the East Jersey Proprietors, which he dated Newark. February 20, But this octavo pamphlet of eight pages (seven numbered), of which there is a perhaps unique copy in the Library of Princeton University. Has neither title page nor imprint, and the extreme improbability of its being the work of a Newark printer has led to its rejection in this bibliography.
