Book Description
This open access book focuses on imaging of the musculoskeletal diseases. Over the last few years, there have been considerable advances in this area, driven by clinical as well as technological developments. The authors are all internationally renowned experts in their field. They are also excellent teachers, and provide didactically outstanding chapters. The book is disease-oriented and covers all relevant imaging modalities, with particular emphasis on magnetic resonance imaging. Important aspects of pediatric imaging are also included. IDKD books are completely re-written every four years. As a result, they offer a comprehensive review of the state of the art in imaging. The book is clearly structured with learning objectives, abstracts, subheadings, tables and take-home points, supported by design elements to help readers easily navigate through the text. As an IDKD book, it is particularly valuable for general radiologists, radiology residents, and interventional radiologists who want to update their diagnostic knowledge, and for clinicians interested in imaging as it relates to their specialty.

Written by world-renowned experts, the book offers various points of view on the topics discussed. This comparative approach is generally lacking in foot and ankle literature, an oversight that the book addresses. The content consists of 59 chapters, divided into the following major sections: Basic sciences and general considerations, Pediatric orthopedics and traumatology, Adult orthopedics and Adult sports lesions and traumatology. Foot and Ankle Disorders: A Comprehensive Approach in Pediatric and Adult Populations will be of major interest for orthopedic surgery residents, for orthopedic surgeons who are starting their careers, and for experienced ones seeking updated information on the foot and ankle.

This text/atlas of radiography introduces the scope of diagnostic radiology applicable to podiatric medicine, including normal and pathological presentations of the foot and ankle. It covers the principles of radiographic interpretation, normal and variant radiographic anatomy and development of the foot and ankle, systematic evaluation of bone and joint disorders, as well as bone and joint abnormalities. The second edition will include MRI and CT imaging as well as a chapter on musculoskeletal ultrasound. It demonstrates how to systematically analyze a radiograph and identify conditions that are intrinsic to the foot or that represent manifestations of extrinsic disease.

Book Description
Minimally Invasive Surgery of the Foot and Ankle represents a novel approach to treatment of orthopedic problems in the foot and ankle. The gradual change of philosophy in the management of foot and ankle surgery means that patients require a less invasive approach to surgery and a consequent improvement in recovery time. Describing the techniques and, importantly, the indications for minimally invasive procedures for the management of foot and ankle ailments, this book will explain the management of various conditions and how they can be approached using minimally invasive techniques. However, rather than only concentrating on minimally invasive surgery of the foot and ankle, the authors will be examining the options open to surgeons operating in this area – both open surgical and arthroscopic – and explaining the benefits of each. Extensive radiographs, diagrams, and intra-operative pictures will illustrate the procedures described.

Book Description
Diseases of the foot and ankle are common and encountered not only by orthopedic surgeons; they encompass the entirety of a podiatric practice. The field of foot and ankle surgery is young compared to other fields and the need for good educational material is in high demand. There is a distinct lack of practical textbooks in the English literature, and very little literature on the subject at all in China and India. Having lectured in both of those nations, the need for literature is very high and the field is just beginning to take off in those nations with a very large potential number of cases that may be performed. There are excellent textbooks that provide a detailed history of disease process and a discussion of complex foot and ankle surgery. However, there is very little literature that can guide a surgeon from start to finish in the identification of a disease process through the surgery and postoperative care. This practical knowledge is critical in the care of patients. Our goal to provide the practicing orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist a practical approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the most common foot and ankle pathologies.

Book Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) administers two programs that provide disability benefits: the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. SSDI provides disability benefits to people (under the full retirement age) who are no longer able to work because of a disabling medical condition. SSI provides income assistance for disabled, blind, and aged people who have limited income and resources regardless of their prior participation in the labor force. Both programs share a common disability determination process administered by SSA and state agencies as well as a common definition of disability for adults: "the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months." Disabled workers might receive either SSDI benefits or SSI payments, or both, depending on their recent work history and current income and assets. Disabled workers might also receive benefits from other public programs such as workers' compensation, which insures against work-related illness or injuries occurring on the job, but those other programs have their own definitions and eligibility criteria. Selected Health Conditions and Likelihood of Improvement with Treatment identifies and defines the professionally accepted, standard measurements of outcomes improvement for medical conditions. This report also identifies specific, long-lasting medical conditions for adults in the categories of mental health disorders, cancers, and musculoskeletal disorders. Specifically, these conditions are disabling for a length of time, but typically don't result in permanently disabling limitations; are responsive to treatment; and after a specific length of time of treatment, improve to the point at which the conditions are no longer disabling.
