Although it is a pivotal and step-aside piece, it gives some indication of the tone of a fictive first-person memoir. The title is commentary, and it is a story that is topical but has never been told. It is fiction that reveals the truths behind the facts.

Book Description

Belinda Baloney Changes Her Mind is a story about a young girl trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. She has lots of big dreams, but can’t seem to pick just one. Maybe she'll be an engineer, the President, or a knitter of coats. She could be a firefighter, a farmer, or a sailor of boats!

When Belinda starts to get worried that she doesn't know how to pick just one job, her brother helps her learn an important lesson. She doesn't need to answer the "What do you want to be when you grow up?" question just yet. Even if she does, her answer is probably going to change along the way and that's more than okay! Growing and learning can take a lifetime, and Belinda Baloney can change her mind!

This "when I grow up" rhyming book filled with fun illustrations is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school-aged children. It's great as a birthday gift, first day of school gift, or even as a graduation gift for big kids heading out into the world. Kids and adults alike love exploring along with Belinda and are inspired to dream big dreams of their own.

Belinda Baloney Changes Her Mind is a children's jobs and careers book your family will want to read over and over. Also available as a coloring book to extend the fun and learning.

Book Description
This book challenges the usual introductions to the study of law. It argues that law is inherently political and reflects the interests of the few even while presenting itself as neutral. It considers law as ideology and as politics, and critically assesses its contribution to the creation and maintenance of a globalized and capitalist world. The clarity of the arguments are admirably suited to provoking discussions of the role of law in our contemporary world. This third edition provides contemporary examples to sustain the arguments in their relevance to the twenty-first century. The book includes an analysis of the common sense of law; the use of anthropological examples to gain external perspectives of our use and understanding of law; a consideration of central legal concepts, such as order, rules, property, dispute resolution, legitimation and the rule of law; an examination of the role of law in women's subordination and finally a critique of the effect of our understanding of law upon the wider world. This book is ideal for undergraduate and postgraduate students reading law.

Book Description
This book is the first major study of an increasingly evident legal and social problem: spouses and partners (particularly wives) who provide third party loan security for the business liabilities of their other spouse or partner.Unlike other texts in this field, Fehlberg specifically considers the legal rules which apply to surety wives in England, with reference to other Commonwealth jurisdictions, particularly Canada and Australia. The law is then considered in the context of sociological literature relevant to suretyexperience. The particular uniqueness of this book is that legal and sociological literature are then tested against empirical research involving interviews with sureties, and other main parties involved in surety transactions. Significantly the latter underlines the discrepancy between the'public' legal perspective on providing security and 'private' complex experiences and motivations which pertain within intimate relationships. Given this situation, the author considers various legal reforms which could improve the position of sureties, but emphasises that the ultimate solution forsureties involves more fundamental social change.

Book Description
One of the Books Barack Obama Is Reading This Summer One of Vulture’s Best Books of 2023 One of Goodreads’ Buzziest Debut Novels of 2023 One of Essence’s 31 Books You Must Read One of the most anticipated books by Town & Country and Elle America is seen through the eyes and ambitions of three characters with ties to Africa in this gripping novel When siblings Jacob and Belinda Nti were growing up in Ghana, their goal was simple: to move to America. For them, the United States was both an opportunity and a struggle, a goal and an obstacle. Jacob, an awkward computer programmer who still lives with his father, wants a visa so he can move to Virginia to live with his wife—a request that the U.S. government has repeatedly denied. He envies his sister, Belinda, who achieved, as their father put it, “what Napoleon could not do”: she went to college and law school in the United States and even managed to marry Wilder, a wealthy Black businessman from Texas. Wilder’s view of America differs markedly from his wife’s, as he’s spent his life railing against the racism and marginalization that are part of life for every African American living here. For these three, their desires and ambitions highlight the promise and the disappointment that life in a new country offers. How each character comes to understand this and how each learns from both their dashed hopes and their fulfilled dreams lie at the heart of what makes What Napoleon Could Not Do such a compelling, insightful read.
