Book Description
Whether it's rising out of bankruptcy, handling a divorce/separation, being a great parent, teaching a classroom, leading a work team, or building a business from scratch as an entrepreneur, the science of applied behavior analysis has 5 Scientific Laws of Life & Leadership that are proven by the authors to lead you to success. Life has provided us with many challenges. Victims of bullying as children, we both struggled with our own sense of self. Fortunately, we each found combat sports and used them as a springboard to develop confidence or grit that would see us through a number of dark times, including depression, anxiety, death, homelessness, & bankruptcy. As former combat athletes and coaches, we will use some combat sports analogies throughout this book, as we see many aspects of life and leadership as a struggle. A fight. And like the famous fictional character, Rocky Balboa said, "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward." Life is not a fight in the literal sense, of course, but in the sense that we must each learn to navigate obstacles and overcome adversity if we are going to move toward who and what we value. There is a science for navigating these obstacles that will allow you to improve behavior, performance, and achieve desired outcomes. This science, the science of human behavior, is frequently misunderstood or misrepresented. But it is real and it is highly effective, and the practical application of the technologies can make an immediate and lasting difference in your life and the lives of others. Since that time, we have been fortunate enough to use science to help thousands of children with disabilities, parents, students, teachers, principals, and organizational managers, and leaders achieve various valued outcomes. From turning around failing schools and developing champion athletes to building and leading an organization from zero to eight $ figures, we have always been passionate about helping people achieve valued outcomes. Given that we are armed with what we believe to be the most powerful toolbox in the world for improving performance and helping people reach desired outcomes, we feel we cannot go wrong in sharing the 5 powerful laws and supportive behavior hacks outlined in this book for improving life and leadership. Incidentally, a hack, for those of you don't know, can be characterized as "an appropriate application of ingenuity." Perhaps one might even consider a behavior hack "a clever approach." A behavior hack, therefore, might be considered"a clever approach to applying scientific and lawful principles of behavior to achieving positive outcomes." And our book is chock full BEHAVIORAL KARMA(TM) of the practical application of behavior science for making a positive difference in your life and the lives of others.

Book Description
NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY, and PUBLISHERS WEEKLY BESTSELLER “Full of valuable insights to guide you.”—WILL SMITH “Thoughtful and life-affirming . . . a must-read.”—TONY ROBBINS “This book will put you back in charge of your own life.”—TOM BRADY A new perspective on the overused and misunderstood concept of “karma” that offers the key to happiness and enlightenment, from the world-renowned spiritual master Sadhguru. What is karma? Most people understand karma as a balance sheet of good and bad deeds, virtues and sins. The mechanism that decrees that we cannot evade the consequences of our own actions. In reality, karma has nothing to do with reward and punishment. Karma simply means action: your action, your responsibility. It isn’t some external system of crime and punishment, but an internal cycle generated by you. Accumulation of karma is determined only by your intention and the way you respond to what is happening to you. Over time, it’s possible to become ensnared by your own unconscious patterns of behavior. In Karma, Sadhguru seeks to put you back in the driver’s seat, turning you from a terror-struck passenger to a confident driver navigating the course of your own destiny. By living consciously and fully inhabiting each moment, you can free yourself from the cycle. Karma is an exploration and a manual, restoring our understanding of karma to its original potential for freedom and empowerment instead of a source of entanglement. Through Sadhguru’s teachings, you will learn how to live intelligently and joyfully in a challenging world.

Book Description
This comprehensive handbook presents a Zen account of fundamental and important dimensions of daily living. It explores how Zen teachings inform a range of key topics across the field of behavioral health and discuss the many uses of meditation and mindfulness practice in therapeutic contexts, especially within cognitive-behavioral therapies. Chapters outline key Zen constructs of self and body, desire, and acceptance, and apply these constructs to Western frameworks of health, pathology, meaning-making, and healing. An interdisciplinary panel of experts, including a number of Zen masters who have achieved the designation of roshi, examines intellectual tensions among Zen, mindfulness, and psychotherapy, such as concepts of rationality, modes of language, and goals of well-being. The handbook also offers first-person practitioner accounts of living Zen in everyday life and using its teachings in varied practice settings. Topics featured in the Handbook include: • Zen practices in jails.• Zen koans and parables.• A Zen account of desire and attachment.• Adaptation of Zen to behavioral healthcare.• Zen, mindfulness, and their relationship to cognitive behavioral therapy. • The application of Zen practices and principles for survivors of trauma and violence. The Handbook of Zen, Mindfulness, and Behavioral Health is a must-have resource for researchers, clinicians/professionals, and graduate students in clinical psychology, public health, cultural studies, language philosophy, behavioral medicine, and Buddhism and religious studies.

Book Description
Adopting a critical realist position, this book renders transaction cost economics (TCE) into a behavioral theory of organizational decision-making by foregrounding psychological processes and introducing and integrating with effectuation theory. Consistent with its behavioral agenda, the book introduces the concept of uncertainty controllability and provides a clearer conceptualization and a novel modeling strategy of bounded rationality based on the conceptual separation of cognitive bounds from psychological ‘rationalizing.’ The book inspires new insights into the significance of cultural distance (CD). Based on the understanding that culture is socially-extended cognition, the author re-conceptualizes CD as reflecting cognitive bounds, and uses the biases arising from CD to contextualize effectuation and deepen the flat ontology of both TCE and effectuation theory. The book presents a full two-sided behavioral framework of organizational decision-making, with behavioral TCE and behavioral real options theory complementing each other to complete the full behavioral picture. Both sides are further linked to organizational learning, which reduces biases over time and thus drives governance structures toward more rational directions. The full framework uses prospect theory as the overarching theory that determines which side of the behavioral framework is relevant for the uncertainty of concern based on the different problem frames resulting from different degrees of uncertainty controllability. Because effectuation can take place on both sides of the framework based on competing risk logics, prospect theory serves to harmonize inconsistencies in the effectuation literature as a side note. This book applies the behavioral TCE side of the framework to the study of MNC subsidiary ownership decision-making process using a dataset of over 10,000 Japanese subsidiaries founded in 43 host countries. It concludes with a discussion of implications and future directions for TCE in general and international business in particular.

Book Description
Since the beginning of human civilization, there has been a search to make sense of life and discover deeper truths about our existence. A question that has captivated spiritual seekers, philosophers, and ordinary people trying to understand life's ups and downs Is: What invisible forces or universal laws might influence the unfolding of events, the patterns In our lives, the good fortune we receive or harsh knocks that come our way? Over millennia, the concept of karma has emerged in Indian, Buddhist and East Asian schools of philosophy as a law of moral causation that can help provide answers. The word karma has Its roots in ancient Sanskrit and Pali languages. It translates as "action" or "deed", but more broadly signifies the entire cycle of causation that governs existence. Simply put, karma links intentional actions to future results. It Is a natural law of cause and effect, the repercussions of thoughts, words and actions that sent out ripples into the Interconnected cosmic fabric of creation. Karma draws connections between actions in the past, present realities, and possibilities for the future. So this vast concept provides a framework for making sense of life's apparent disparities and inequalities. Why do some people face more misfortune than fortune? What leads to differences In talents, character, circumstances people are born into, even the length of their lives?
