Book Description
Chatter Batter is a compilation of four stories written for preschool through the second or third grade, Each story targets one of four commonly delayed sounds of speech: ‘l’, ‘r’, ‘s’, and ‘th’. At the end of each story is an activity page for added interest. And at the end of the book there is pertinent new information on brain development and expert advice for reading to young children and a recommended method for helping the slow reader catch up. Laurie the Ladybug is a story about a little ladybug that plays make-believe in the leaves of a lilac tree. Richard and Rosco is a story about two friends who spend the day chasing rainbows. “Rumble Rumble Rappity Flap, Oh my goodness what was that?” In The Secret City of Snails, you will learn a simple song to help you remember to be happy. In the story of Thing-a-ma-Jig and Thing-a-ma-Bob, Thing-a-ma-Bob helps Thing-a-ma-Jig not worry about spelling his name for the start of school on Thursday. All of the stories in Chatter Batter use audio bombardment and/or predictable text and encourages interaction which provides opportunity to model speech. By addressing ‘l’, ‘r’, ‘s’, and ‘th’, at this early age, a subconscious awareness is created that will help avoid bad speech habits which are often carried over into adult speech.

Book Description
Originally published in 1961, Let's Read is a simple and systematic way to teach basic reading. Developed by noted linguist Leonard Bloomfield, the book is based on the alphabetic spelling patterns of English. Bloomfield offered an antidote to the idea that English is a difficult language to learn to read by teaching the learner to decode the phonemic sound-letter correlations of the language in a sequential, logical progression of lessons based on its spelling patterns. The learner is first introduced to the most consistent (alphabetic) vocabulary and then to increasingly less alphabetic and less frequent spelling patterns within a vocabulary of about 5,000 words. The second edition of Let's Read brings Bloomfield's innovative program into the twenty-first century without changing the sequence of exercises but with revised text and an attractive new design and layout.

Book Description
Few cities can boast of a longer or richer baseball tradition than Rochester, New York. The game's roots in the Flower City can be traced to the early nineteenth century, when a primitive form of baseball was being played on Mumford's Meadow near the Genesee River. Since that time, some of the greatest names in baseball history, including Stan Musial and Cal Ripken Jr., have honed their skills in Rochester. Their exploits, along with those of numerous others, are documented with rare photographs in Baseball in Rochester. Through the years, nineteen people with local ties have been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Red Wings have won ten Governors' Cups-more than any other International League team-and Rochester has been designated Baseball City, U.S.A., by Baseball America magazine. Baseball in Rochester chronicles not only the superstars but also the quirky characters and moments that make the minor leagues so appealing.
