This book critically examines how race is constructed globally to intersect gender, class, sexuality, language ability and religion and answers some very important questions, like how does anti-black racism manifest itself within various contexts? Chapters in the book use the ‘Black and White paradigm’ as a lens for critical race analysis examining how, for example, the saliency of race and Blackness shape the ‘post-colony’, as well as the various ‘post’ colonial nations. The paradigm centers Whiteness as the lens of defining what and what is different. The negative portrayal of difference is anchored in the sanctity of Whiteness. It is through such analysis that we can understand how historically colour has been a permanent marker of differentiation even though it has not been the only one. It is through conversations and dialogue in the classroom that the book was created; given the current political shift in American and the rise of Anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, Islamophobia and xenophobia. This book critically examines the causes of the increase in insurgent violence in Balochistan and explores the relations between the national government of Pakistan and the province of Balochistan. Based on historical analysis, the book argues that the national government of Pakistan and the leaders of Balochistan both use a standard narrative when dealing with each other. According to the Baloch narrative, Islamabad exploits Balochistan’s natural resources without giving Balochistan its due share and has never accepted and granted Balochistan equal rights. The centre’s narrative emphasizes the tribal character of the Baloch society and suggests that the Baloch elite hinder Balochistan’s integration with the federation. This book demonstrates that both narratives are inherently flawed and presents a precipitous picture of the problem of insurgent violence. It also shows that the Baloch leadership is divided along tribal lines and lacks a unified voice and proposes that the Baloch elite use the narrative of enduring injustice only as a source of politicization of Baloch ethnicity when an actual or perceived injustice is taking place. An important addition to the literature on ethno-political conflicts, this unique analysis of the importance of narrative in the imagination of political movements will be of interest to scholars in the fields of South Asian studies, ethnic conflicts, separatist and political movements and Asian politics.

"A Sociopolitical Study of Iranian Baloch Elites (1979-2013)" is a new study which so far has not been explored. Actually, the present book is a response to the critics of my previous book, "The Baloch in Post Islamic Revolution Iran: A Political Study", privately circulated in Iran. After receiving critical comments, I began to reassess the book. So, I divided it, deleted one chapter, reviewed and edited some chapters, and published two chapters in the form of articles. On the whole, it took me four years (2010-14) to review and edit these "series of articles" or to "reorganize the present book", A Sociopolitical Study of Iranian Baloch Elites (1979-2013).
