Book Description
In the field of compressed gases and related equipment, there is an expanding core of essential knowledge that people handling and using these materials should be familiar with or should know where to find. The focus ofthis book concerns the properties and the accepted means oftransportation, storage, and handlingofcompressed gases. This handbook is simultaneously intended as an overview ofthe subject and a source ofsupplementary information. It is also intended to serve as a guide to perti nent federal regulatory requirements and published standards of the Compressed Gas Association and other standards-developing organizations. The Association advises readers that the CGA technical publications remain the official statement ofpolicy on a particular matter. Reference is made throughout this text to the numerous technical publications published by the Compressed Gas Association. Some ofthese publications have been incorporated by reference into federal, state, provincial, and local regulations. Since the CGA publications are reviewed on a periodic basis, whenever the textofthis handbook conflicts with corresponding information in the CGA technical pamphlets, the most recently printed material shall take precedence.

Book Description
This essential new volume provides background information, historical perspective, and expert commentary on the ASME B31.1 Code requirements for power piping design and construction. It provides the most complete coverage of the Code that is available today and is packed with additional information useful to those responsible for the design and mechanical integrity of power piping. The author, Dr. Becht, is a long-serving member of ASME piping code committees and is the author of the highly successful book, Process Piping: The Complete Guide to ASME B31.3, also published by ASME Press and now in its third edition. Dr. Becht explains the principal intentions of the Code, covering the content of each of the Code's chapters. Book inserts cover special topics such as spring design, design for vibration, welding processes and bonding processes. Appendices in the book include useful information for pressure design and flexibility analysis as well as guidelines for computer flexibility analysis and design of piping systems with expansion joints. From the new designer wanting to know how to size a pipe wall thickness or design a spring to the expert piping engineer wanting to understand some nuance or intent of the Code, everyone whose career involves process piping will find this to be a valuable reference.

Book Description
Aline Leon ́ In the last years, public attention was increasingly shifted by the media and world governmentsto the conceptsof saving energy, reducingpollution, protectingthe - vironment, and developing long-term energy supply solutions. In parallel, research funding relating to alternative fuels and energy carriers is increasing on both - tional and international levels. Why has future energy supply become such a matter of concern? The reasons are the problems created by the world’s current energy supply s- tem which is mainly based on fossil fuels. In fact, the energystored in hydrocarb- based solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels was, is, and will be widely consumed for internal combustion engine-based transportation, for electricity and heat generation in residential and industrial sectors, and for the production of fertilizers in agric- ture, as it is convenient, abundant, and cheap. However, such a widespread use of fossil fuels by a constantly growing world population (from 2. 3 billion in 1939 to 6. 5 billion in 2006) gives rise to the two problems of oil supply and environmental degradation. The problemrelated to oil supply is caused by the fact that fossil fuels are not - newable primary energy sources: This means that since the rst barrel of petroleum has been pumped out from the ground, we have been exhausting a heritage given by nature.
