Book Description
Atlas of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis reveals in-depth information about mycobacterium tuberculosis which has never before been reported. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM), the in-depth phenotypic interaction that occurs in different stages of the tuberculosis lifecycle is illustrated, including resting, exponential, and dormant states. Coverage also includes the macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of mycobacterium, including pigmentation, morphology of colonies, size and shape, and the phenotypic changes from susceptible to resistant, all shown with images from electronic and atomic force microscopes. This book will open a new window into the results of molecular changes at the cellular level, guiding researchers and scientists to think in new ways about the area of cell wall and the reproductive and drug resistance phenomena surrounding tuberculosis. - Identifies the different stages and morphological aspects of mycobacterium tuberculosis with the use of new microscopy techniques - Includes never-before-seen photographs from the personal collection and scientific achievement of the authors - Outlines the nature of the lifecycle of mycobacterium tuberculosis in relation to adaptation in humans

Tuberculosis is caused by a bacteria called as mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria were first discovered by Robert Koch. This bacteria infect the lungs specially in adults and lymph node specially in children. This is spread by droplet air born infection. The reservoir of bacteria are infected lungs When a patient of tuberculosis coughs the bacteria are released in the air in the form of droplet. If these bacteria are inhaled in the form of droplets by some other person, They goes with respiration in the healthy person. They get lodged in the lungs and multiply there and cause damage to lungs. By this process a person becomes a patient of tuberculosis. This is most common procedure or way by which tuberculosis spread from one person to other person by air born channel. They may get lodged in lymph nodes in adults and children. The lymph nodes become enlarged and swollen and painless. Commonly the cervical lymph nodes are infected specially. This is called as cervical lymph node tuberculosis. In adults pulmonary tuberculosis is very common and in children cervical lymph node tuberculosis is very common.
