Book Description
How to predict the structure life time? Really my Ph.D about concrete structure reliability and its probability of failure with considering the corrosion effect. I did also many researches about concrete structure, steel and offshore structures failures and its reliability but this questions raised to me from 10 years in one on my courses in Dubai. From that date I spent many times and collect many researches about how to know the structure remaining life time really it is very complicated questions and different from structure to another. Based on that I published many books about corrosion, structure evaluation, quality control and then my book about assessment evaluation and repair concrete, steel and offshore structures, I try to address this point. The experimental technique and pushover analysis is discussed also. It is very important to highlight that in mature structure if you try to design it or evaluate it will be unsafe. I wish to delete this statement from your mind during evaluation mature structure "UNSAFE", but say it is violating to the existing code but how long it can live until failure that we discuss about it here in this book. For this eBook I focus about answering this question and provide many references can be used also in case for future reading. If you have any inquiry or questions or special case need to discuss let do not hesitate to contact me.

Book Description
Written in a clear, concise style, Principles of Chemical Engineering Processes provides an introduction to the basic principles and calculation techniques that are fundamental to the field. The text focuses on problems in material and energy balances in relation to chemical reactors and introduces software that employs numerical methods to solve these problems. Upon mastery of this material, readers will be able to: Understand basic processing terminology (batch, semibatch, continuous, purge, and recycle) and standard operations (reaction, distillation, absorption, extraction, and filtration) Draw and fully label a flowchart for a given process description Choose a convenient basis for calculation for both single- and multiple-unit processes Identify possible subsystems for which material and energy balances might be written Perform a degree of freedom analysis for the overall system and each possible subsystem, formulating the appropriate material and energy balance equations Apply the first law of thermodynamics, calculate energy and enthalpy changes, and construct energy balances on closed and open systems Written as a text to fully meet the needs of advanced undergraduate students, it is also suitable as a reference for chemical engineers with its wide coverage across the biochemical and electromechanical fields. Each chapter of the text provides examples, case studies, and end-of-chapter problems, and the accompanying CD-ROM contains software designed for solving problems in chemical engineering.

Book Description
UNDERWATER INSPECTION AND REPAIR FOR OFFSHORE STRUCTURES Benefit from a much-needed, up-to-date handbook on underwater inspection and repair processes and technologies Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures fills a gap in the literature to provide an overview of the inspection and repair processes for both steel and concrete offshore structures. Authors and noted experts on the topic John V. Sharp and Gerhard Esdal guide readers through the reasons why inspection and repair are performed and how both are linked to the management of structural integrity, statutory requirements, and various types of damage. The book addresses critical topics, including the execution and planning of inspection and repair, the tools and methods used, and their deployment underwater. The authors put particular focus on steel and concrete offshore oil and gas installations, but the content is also applicable to the substructures of offshore wind turbines. Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures is complementary to the authors’ book Ageing and Life Extension of Offshore Structures, also from Wiley. This important book: Covers current inspection and monitoring techniques to evaluate existing structures Includes coverage of robotic (ROV) inspection and repair methods Provides an overview of repair and maintenance techniques applicable to the splash‐zone and underwater operations Written for engineers, designers, and safety auditors working with offshore structures. Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures is a comprehensive resource for understanding how to effectively inspect and repair these vulnerable structures.

Book Description
Corrosion of Steel in Concrete: Understanding, Investigation and Repair is a guide for designing, constructing and maintaining reinforced concrete structures, such as buildings and bridges which are subject to reinforcement corrosion. It presents the basics of theory and practice in steel corrosion in concrete and reviews the latest research and developments, such as progress on measuring the corrosion threshold for chloride-induced corrosion. This third edition compares the currently proliferating major national and international standards and guidance documents. New developments are considered, such as hybrid anodes for electrochemical treatment and the latest research and developments in assessment, such as the use of ground penetrating radar to measure the chloride content of the concrete cover. It overhauls coverage of electrochemical repair and rehabilitation techniques and outlines recent innovations in structural repair and construction and investigates their implications for durability. The book is ideal for practitioners and graduate students in structural engineering and concrete technology.

Book Description
If the durability of repaired concrete structures is a primary objective of any repair project, then every effort should be made to ensure adequate bonding between the repair and the existing concrete substrate. A total of 257 partial-depth cores in 77 experimental repairs were tested in Florida, Illinois, and Arizona in order to evaluate the effect of material properties and environmental conditions on the bond between repair and concrete substrate. Three pull-off testing devices were used to determine the bond strengths for each of the experimental repairs. In addition, the testing devices themselves were evaluated by analyzing the magnitude and relative precision of the pull-off strengths, modes of failure, and ease of use in an effort to identify a reliable and practical device for determining in situ tensile bond. The optimum depth of core drilling into the existing substrate was determined by comparing theoretical finite element analysis of failure zone stress distribution with measured test results.
