Book Description
Laboratory measurements of Henry's law constants are reported for 51 chemicals spanning a wide range of chemical structures and volatilities. A static headspace method (Equilibrium Partitioning in Closed Systems, referred to as EPICS) was used to measure Henry's Law Constant, with the standard batch air-stripping method used as a check. An average precision of 5 percent was obtained for the EPICS runs, and the Henry's law constants agreed reasonably well (within 10 percent) with the batch air-stripping results and other reported experimental values. Measurements were conducted over a temperature range of 10-30 C, and the data were correlated with a temperature regression equation coupled with a temperature-dependent error term based on 95 percent confidence limits. The aqueous solubilities of the study compounds were also determined via the shake-flask method at temperatures of 10, 20, and 30 degrees Celsius. Finally, the results of this study were incorporated into a thermodynamic correlation (UNIFAC), based on chemical structure, which allows the prediction of Henry's law constants and aqueous solubilities for a wide variety of pure compounds and mixtures in dilute aqueous solutions. Volume II contains the experimental Henry's law data. Appendix A - Summary of Literature Search, and Appendix B Summary of EPICS Results are included in this volume. Keywords: Water pollution, Soil contamination. (aw).

Book Description
Solubility is fundamental to most areas of chemistry and is one of the most basic of thermodynamic properties. It underlies most industrial processes. Bringing together the latest developments and ideas, Developments and Applications in Solubility covers many varied and disparate topics. The book is a collection of work from leading experts in their fields and covers the theory of solubility, modelling and simulation, industrial applications and new data and recent developments relating to solubility. Of particular interest are sections on: experimental, calculated and predicted solubilities; solubility phenomena in 'green' quaternary mixtures involving ionic liquids; molecular simulation approaches to solubility; solubility impurities in cryogenic liquids and carbon dioxide in chemical processes. The book is a definitive and comprehensive reference to what is new in solubility and is ideal for researcher scientists, industrialists and academics

Book Description
Tired of hand calculating evaporation rates from water by hand calculating using the fragment constants? Henry's Law Constant Program calculates the Henry's Law Constant (air/water coefficient) from SMILES notation structure using both the group contribution and the bond contribution method of Hine and Mookerjee. This version of the program features many new fragments with more recent experimental data so that most chemical structures can be calculated. The program will run on any IBM® or IBM-compatible computer with 640K RAM. Henry's Law Constant Program is used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and it will be valuable for environmental chemists, engineers, or anyone who wants to calculate the Henry's Law Constant for partitioning a chemical between water and air.
