Excerpt from Annual Report of the Attorney General of the United States, 1884 Of those in which the United States appealed 17 were affirmed and 10 reversed. Thirteen of the cases were appeals from the Court of Claims, in 10 of which judgment was affirmed and in 3 reversed. Be sides the cases in which the United States were concerned that were decided there were 20 others which were dismissed by the court, and of these 10 were dismissed at the instance of the United States and 10 at the instance of the other side. Thus the total number of cases disposed of at the October term, 1883, in which the United States were interested is 68. The above does not include 4 cases on the original docket in which the United States were interested, and 3 cases on the appellate docket from the Court of Claims in which the District of Columbia was a party.
