Book Description
This book is a comprehensive illustrated surgical guide to operative exposures of the spinal nerves, also known as peripheral nerves. Each chapter is devoted to a particular nerve and describes the origin, anatomic relations, branches, surgical approaches, and clinical significance. The text is concise and easy to read and is complemented by informative color photos from cadaveric dissections and surgical procedures. A separate chapter on technical notes identifies surgical pearls relating to techniques such as nerve suturing and nerve transfers. Importantly, unlike other peripheral nerve atlases, this book is accompanied by videos of different approaches. The book will be especially valuable for residents and fellows in training and candidates for oral board and MOC examinations. It is also designed to provide a quick illustrated review for surgeons unfamiliar with a procedure. Most videos are less than 5 minutes long, and it should take less than 10 minutes to review each approach, including watching the video. Anatomy and Exposures of Spinal Nerves will effectively fill a gap caused by the absence of a peripheral nerve surgeon from many neurosurgery training programs.

Book Description
Combining the graphic strength of an atlas with the procedural guidelines of a text. Here is the first book to lead you through operative exposures of all the major peripheral nerves in the body using actual dissections. Covering patient positioning, relevant anatomy, and surgical exposures of both the upper and lower extremities, it provides the step-by-step approach and visual orientation needed to effectively map out a surgical strategy. Special features: The first book to use full-color actual dissections as an operative guide to peripheral nerve surgery In-depth coverage of all related anatomy Valuable information on nerves such as brachial plexus, axillary, ulnar, femoral, sciatic, tibial, plantar, and many others Pearls and pitfalls that offer valuable tips and insights from the author's extensive clinical experience Combining the graphic strength of an atlas with the procedural guidelines of a text, this book is ideal for neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, and general surgeons who need to refresh their memory on a specific exposure, as well as a useful primer on operative steps for beginners. It is also a valuable board review and course book for neurosurgery residents who are required to have a full understanding of the peripheral nervous system.

Book Description
Nerves and Nerve Injuries is the first comprehensive work devoted to the nerves of the body. An indispensable work for anyone studying the nerves or treating patients with nerve injuries, these books will become the ‘go to’ resource in the field. The nerves are treated in a systematic manner, discussing details such as their anatomy (both macro- and microscopic), physiology, examination (physical and imaging), pathology, and clinical and surgical interventions. The authors contributing their expertise are international experts on the subject. The books cover topics from detailed nerve anatomy and embryology to cutting-edge knowledge related to treatment, disease and mathematical modeling of the nerves. Nerves and Nerve Injuries Volume 1 focuses on the history of nerves, embryology, anatomy, imaging, and diagnostics. This volume provides a greatly detailed overview of the anatomy of the peripheral and cranial nerves as well as comprehensive details of imaging modalities and diagnostic tests. Detailed anatomy of the peripheral and cranial nerves including their history and ultrastructure Comprehensive details of the imaging modalities and diagnostic tests used for viewing and investigating the nerves Authored by leaders in the field around the globe – the broadest, most expert coverage available

Book Description
Many hundreds of thousands suffer spinal cord injuries leading to loss of sensation and motor function in the body below the point of injury. Spinal cord research has made some significant strides towards new treatment methods, and is a focus of many laboratories worldwide. In addition, research on the involvement of the spinal cord in pain and the abilities of nervous tissue in the spine to regenerate has increasingly been on the forefront of biomedical research in the past years. The Spinal Cord, a collaboration with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, is the first comprehensive book on the anatomy of the mammalian spinal cord. Tens of thousands of articles and dozens of books are published on this subject each year, and a great deal of experimental work has been carried out on the rat spinal cord. Despite this, there is no comprehensive and authoritative atlas of the mammalian spinal cord. Almost all of the fine details of spinal cord anatomy must be searched for in journal articles on particular subjects. This book addresses this need by providing both a comprehensive reference on the mammalian spinal cord and a comparative atlas of both rat and mouse spinal cords in one convenient source. The book provides a descriptive survey of the details of mammalian spinal cord anatomy, focusing on the rat with many illustrations from the leading experts in the field and atlases of the rat and the mouse spinal cord. The rat and mouse spinal cord atlas chapters include photographs of Nissl stained transverse sections from each of the spinal cord segments (obtained from a single unfixed spinal cord), detailed diagrams of each of the spinal cord segments pictured, delineating the laminae of Rexed and all other significant neuronal groupings at each level and photographs of additional sections displaying markers such as acetylcholinesterase (AChE), calbindin, calretinin, choline acetlytransferase, neurofilament protein (SMI 32), enkephalin, calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), and neuronal nuclear protein (NeuN). The text provides a detailed account of the anatomy of the mammalian spinal cord and surrounding musculoskeletal elements The major topics addressed are: development of the spinal cord; the gross anatomy of the spinal cord and its meninges; spinal nerves, nerve roots, and dorsal root ganglia; the vertebral column, vertebral joints, and vertebral muscles; blood supply of the spinal cord; cytoarchitecture and chemoarchitecture of the spinal gray matter; musculotopic anatomy of motoneuron groups; tracts connecting the brain and spinal cord; spinospinal pathways; sympathetic and parasympathetic elements in the spinal cord; neuronal groups and pathways that control micturition; the anatomy of spinal cord injury in experimental animals The atlas of the rat and mouse spinal cord has the following features: Photographs of Nissl stained transverse sections from each of 34 spinal segments for the rat and mouse; Detailed diagrams of each of the 34 spinal segments for rat and mouse, delineating the laminae of Rexed and all other significant neuronal groupings at each level. ; Alongside each of the 34 Nissl stained segments, there are additional sections displaying markers such as acetylcholinesterase, calbindin, calretinin, choline acetlytransferase, neurofilament protein (SMI 32), and neuronal nuclear protein (NeuN) All the major motoneuron clusters are identified in relation to the individual muscles or muscle groups they supply

Book Description
This comprehensive atlas depicts the entire range of normal variants seen on neuroradiologic images, helping radiologists "decode" appearances that can be misdiagnosed as pathology. The book features nearly 900 radiographs that show normal variants seen on plain film, MR, CT, and angiographic images, plus accompanying line drawings that demonstrate normal angiogram patterns and other pertinent anatomy.Dr. Jinkins, a well-known neuroradiologist, takes a multimodality approach to the cranium, sella, orbit, face, sinuses, neck, and spine. In an easy-to-follow format, he provides the information radiologists need to identify unusual features...assess their significance...avoid unnecessary, expensive studies...and minimize exposure and risk.
