Book Description
Welcome to the first book of the An Unbelievable Truth series-a modern approach to the struggles and hardships that accompany what might be considered an incredible or envied ability. Daymion Truth is a young man who, like all young people, is trying to discover who he is and what his purpose in life may be. Young adulthood is an extremely trying time for anyone; however, it is even more so for him. You see, this is the tale of a man who has been born with an exceptional, almost superhuman, ability. Desmond "Dizzy" Watson and Jasmine "Jaz" Wholcott are the only people Daymion can trust; they're his family, and the only ones who know of his ability. Dizzy is a lovable, marijuana-smoking jokester, every bit as broken by tragedy as Daymion, and his best friend. Convinced that he is meant to be Daymion's sidekick, he searches for an extraordinary ability of his own. Jaz is the mother hen of the group, keeping Daymion and Dizzy in line. Although she has secretly had feelings for Daymion since the day they met, she remains a dear friend to both him and Dizzy. They are the keys to keeping Daymion grounded; they constitute his "normal." With his friends by his side, Daymion is forced to deal with his capability head-on as he attempts to discover why he is the way he is while trying to maintain a semblance of normalcy. Daymion learns, over and over, that things are rarely what they seem to be at first glance, and that his path is one of impossible choices. Will he make the right ones? Will he be able to deal with the repercussions when he doesn't? What happens when all you want to be is normal, yet that's the single thing your ability prohibits? An Unbelievable Truth is a gritty, sometimes dark rollercoaster of a journey that explores human nature and the effects of choice. But don't expect to find spandex-wearing, caped heroes on this ride. AUT takes a unique, non-traditional look at the not-so-glorious side of being born with an exceptional ability-and all that comes with it.

Book Description
Now the Netflix Limited Series Unbelievable, starring Toni Collette, Merritt Wever, and Kaitlyn Dever • Two Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists tell the riveting true crime story of a teenager charged with lying about having been raped—and the detectives who followed a winding path to arrive at the truth. “Gripping . . . [with a] John Grisham–worthy twist.”—Emily Bazelon, New York Times Book Review (Editors’ Choice) On August 11, 2008, eighteen-year-old Marie reported that a masked man broke into her apartment near Seattle, Washington, and raped her. Within days police and even those closest to Marie became suspicious of her story. The police swiftly pivoted and began investigating Marie. Confronted with inconsistencies in her story and the doubts of others, Marie broke down and said her story was a lie—a bid for attention. Police charged Marie with false reporting, and she was branded a liar. More than two years later, Colorado detective Stacy Galbraith was assigned to investigate a case of sexual assault. Describing the crime to her husband that night, Galbraith learned that the case bore an eerie resemblance to a rape that had taken place months earlier in a nearby town. She joined forces with the detective on that case, Edna Hendershot, and the two soon discovered they were dealing with a serial rapist: a man who photographed his victims, threatening to release the images online, and whose calculated steps to erase all physical evidence suggested he might be a soldier or a cop. Through meticulous police work the detectives would eventually connect the rapist to other attacks in Colorado—and beyond. Based on investigative files and extensive interviews with the principals, Unbelievable is a serpentine tale of doubt, lies, and a hunt for justice, unveiling the disturbing truth of how sexual assault is investigated today—and the long history of skepticism toward rape victims. Book Description
In Unbelievable Errors, Bart Streumer defends an error theory about all normative judgements: not just moral judgements, but also judgements about reasons for action, judgements about reasons for belief, and instrumental normative judgements. This theory says that these judgements are beliefs that ascribe normative properties, but that these properties do not exist. It therefore entails that all normative judgements are false. Streumer also argues, however, that we cannot believe this error theory. This may seem to be a problem for the theory, but he argues that it is not. Instead, he argues, our inability to believe this error theory makes the theory more likely to be true, since it undermines objections to the theory, it makes it harder to reject the arguments for the theory, and it undermines revisionary alternatives to the theory. Streumer then sketches how certain other philosophical views can be defended in a similar way, and how philosophers should modify their method if there can be true theories that we cannot believe. He concludes that to make philosophical progress, we should sharply distinguish the truth of a theory from our ability to believe it

Book Description
Conversations matter. Yet, recently, good conversations about faith have been increasingly squeezed out of the public sphere. Seeking to reopen the debate, Justin Brierley began to invite atheists and sceptics on to Premier Christian Radio to air arguments for and against the Christian faith. But how has ten years of discussion with atheists affected the presenter’s faith? Reflecting on conversations with Richard Dawkins, Derren Brown and many more, Justin explains why he still finds Christianity the most compelling explanation for life, the universe and everything. And why, regardless of belief or background, we should all welcome the conversation. ‘Beautifully written, brilliantly argued, Justin’s book will thrill Christians and challenge atheists.’ R. T. Kendall, author and pastor ‘Justin has that happy knack of being able to get people of diametrically opposed opinions debating the big issues.’ John Lennox, Professor of Mathematics, University of Oxford
